As per the other thread about what it might take to believe in God, and presumably this might apply only to those who do have a belief in the one God, although it also might apply to others.

means "re-union" with from where we all started the journey of life in the beginning.
If you'll be able to define "God" without using the word "God" :)

Nothing can take away my faith and belief in the spiritual realm and the countless Gods and Buddhas that is there.
And nothing can take away my faith and belief in my teacher and the teaching I cultivate.

Wow. I'll have to remember that the next time someone says atheists are closed-minded.

What is close minded in having no doubt in the teaching and once spiritual teacher?
The one I doubt is my self and my own ability to enlighten to the teaching.

"Nothing can take away my faith..." Sounds pretty closed-minded. Your belief is not falsifiable, it's impervious to facts, reason or testing.

Yes I am the one who "test" my own faith in the teaching and in my teacher. I do not blindly follow, but so far I have not found anything in the teaching or with my teacher I can say is false.
The cultivation is a personal journey toward some form of enlightenment. So what others understand and believe in the teaching or the teacher is their own part of the journey.
I don't speak for what others should or should not believe or have faith in. I speak only of my own understanding and experience.
And the teaching has taken away the doubt I may have had in spiritual practice.

    One of two things:
    • For the things I consider gods now to cease to exist, which would mean the universe and everything, including myself, would cease to exist (obviously, this is never going to happen)
    • For me to fall into the trap of letting others define gods for me and thus not apply that honorific title to the things in my life that are worthy of worship (which is also never going to happen)
Edited to add - the word, honestly, isn't important. I suppose there's a third option, which is what atheists in my mind do all the time: have your gods, and don't call them gods for whatever reason.

Why would God be requisite to something happening after death?

IMV, it was the proper response to the OP which stated, "What would it take for you to NOT believe in God?" - it didn't leave any other option IMO

I don't think I need bother since no doubt there are plenty of different definitions, and beliefs as to such. Expect them all to mean the same thing?

That's a bit after the event though isn't it - since you'll have no 'me' to know what has happened. How about before then?

    ROTFLMAO

Your run around answer is most amusing.
You flat out declared you would answer the question of the Title and here you are NOT answering it.

Interesting, is it not, that his very question indicates he has no idea which god he believes in?

Wow. Looks like the only one who really answered without saying "I'm the exclusion; it doesn't apply to me" or "define your terms" or ....

What is the disadvantage of nothing happening after death?

I've honestly talked with people who found it hard to answer hypothetic questions without needing to undermine their beliefs. My friend has difficulty unless it to a real world situation.

I can't imagine (nor do I want to) what circumstance would cause me to become that hopeless.
