They didn't do it. Pilate was the one who crucified Jesus and he himself confessed that truth by nailing the reason why Jesus was crucified on the top of his cross: INRI. It means that Jesus was crucified on a political charge of insurrection for having allowed his disciples to acclaim him king of the Jews at the entrance of Jerusalem. (Luke 19:37-40) The Pharisees rather tried to rescue him from being arrested by asking him to stop his disciples of their nonsense. Jesus was probably enjoying the parade because his answer to the Pharisees was that, if he stopped them the stones would cry out. Well, the Pharisees must have said among themselves. At least, we warned him. It didn't help. Soon afterwards, Jesus was arrested and taken to the cross.

There were at least three being crucified when Jesus was crucified. Jesus was the only one who was tried and found innocent. So that certainly doesn't discredit him as the one who's prayers were pure. If you don't want to see it that way, I understand that there will always be another explanation for you. But what else do we have to do but argue.

That's not what the bible says...quite the opposite. Pilate would have let him go but the Pharisees chose Jesus to be crucified over a convicted murderer.

He was mocking Jesus. It meant King of the Jews, and there he was at the lowliest state, hanging on a cross about to die like a common murderer. Irony

The person responsible for the verdict INRI on the top of Jesus' cross was Pilate, not the Pharisees. Some decency here is required. Enough of slanders! Pilate was more honorable for not hiding the truth than the writers of the gospels for trying to vent their anti-Jewish hatred.

Perhaps it was a verdict. Pilate "found no guile" with Jesus. Pilates verdict was Jesus was "King of the Jews" but the Jews had him Crucified.

And do you still wonder why Jews in general hate the NT for this anti-Jewish slander? You make yourselves guilty for reminding the Jews of lie against themselves.

Just telling you what the bible says, relax, God still loves the Jews on account of the Patriarchs, Abraham etc. Nobody is trying to punish Jews.

What I'm "mystified" about is how people like you think you can get away with lying outright about something this easy for anyone to check.

This is all it says, "1:13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house".

If that amounts to a drunken orgy, let's just hope your planning on spending the holidays in a dark room eating bread and water by yourself. :rolleyes:

That was not Jesus but the Hellenist who wrote the gospel of John. He had to slander the Pharisees of being stupid people. Jesus knew that Nicodemus was a wise Pharisee. (John 3:1-3)

Nicodemus wasn't very "spiritual" . He thought being born again meant climbing back into his mothers womb and coming out again. So it would seem Jesus was right telling Nicodemus he needed to be born again of Spirit, to be able to interpret things spiritually, rather than literally.
