What is the definition of "religion" going to be in the distant future?

Some folks are beginning to define Atheism a religion which then would make "religion" a belief in the existance or non existance of one or more non physical entities that can assist one with the physical or with that which comes after the physical. What is interesting is that the discussion of, "What is religion?" is coming at a time where the definition of "religion" is in transition. And what it use to be and what it is going to be are going to be two different things. That which is being said in this topic helps one to understand the "directions" that this transition of the definition of, "What is religion?" is being brought into play in today's world.

This brings up the question, "What is the definition of Religion going to be in the distance future?"

Does anybody have any ideas? What do you think the definiton of "religion" is going to be in the distant future?

As there is currently no universally accepted definition for the term "religion" at this time, and it is itself a fairly recent term truly applicable only to some European traditions, I don't see that it has much value, or will have any single, clear meaning in the future. But who knows what will happen?

Eventually religion will disappear except for religions that are connected to ethnicity (such as Judaism). Religion will be simply cultural traditions without any belief.

There will be two definitions of religion.
(1) When studying history, students will learn that religion used to imply belief in magic, spirits, gods, etc - even as late as the 21st century.
(2) When looking at their own society, they will see that religion is simply an excuse to have a party and sample ethnic cuisine.
