What is incorrect with those people who drink alcohol?

Nations who allow alcohol are breading murderers 3 times faster then nations who bread terrorists.

The chances of being killed in a terrorist attack are about 1 in 20 million. A person is as likely to be killed by his or her own furniture, and more likely to die in a car accident, drown in a bathtub, or in a building fire than from a terrorist attack.

(edit:In USA)
• One person is killed every half-hour due to drunk driving
• Each year approximately 16,000 are killed in alcohol related crashes
• Alcohol is a factor in almost half of all traffic fatalities
• Every other minute a person is seriously injured in an alcohol related crash

I don't get it either, but I'm not going to make sweeping over-generalizations about people who consume alcoholic substances...

The US tried banning alcohol from 1920 to 1933 with a Constitutional amendment, of all things (that's not what the Constitution is for). It was called Prohibition. It was a dismal failure, because people got their hands on alcohol and drank anyway, bootleggers made huge $$ and NASCAR was born (really, running moonshine was the beginning of NASCAR). Prohibition was later repealed by another Constitutional amendment.

In Thailand 341 killed during the “Seven Dangerous Days” of the New Year holiday. 40% of accidents were caused by drunk driving.

How many are killed by rebel attacks from the south?

It would seem death is not the issue, but having fun is, and terrorism and wars are not fun.

Those kinds of stuff makes people happy. No one can argue that. But is everything that makes you happy good for you?

Probably not.
Nope but we do it anyway and accept the consequences with a tear in our eye and a grin in our hearts.

I'm with you on this part of your post. I never touch the stuff.

The Dad in me said this more than a few times, 'Bad things happen when you drink.'

Those of us who have lived with alcoholics know.

The liquor lobby is powerful. I fail to see why it gets the free pass it does. We've gone after tobacco (at least here in Canada) with a great deal of success, (We are the lowest in the world, at 16%, and 63% of all people who once smoked have quit) managing to reduce the number of smokers substantially, mostly through negative advertising, banning advertising of it, and lots of education. But there never seems to be the same energy put into education about booze. It's baffling, given the cost to society.

Yep. Think about all the print and tv ads that feature young, attractive, well-to-do people having a good time with a drink in their hands. Drink like us and you'll live like us. One of the newer campaigns features Mila Kunis extolling the virtues of Jim Beam:

Jim Beam brings back Mila Kunis after seeing a 43% sales spike ...

Feb 6, 2015 - Jim Beam is launching a second Mila Kunis ad in an effort to reach the expanding number of 18-34 whisky drinkers in the UK after seeing 43% ...

Just ban cars. Problem solved.

Most people are responsible with their drinking, just as most are responsible with their religion, both if not used properly can be dangerous in the wrong hands.
