I am in a place where I need help. I have been independent my entire life until recently.
I find it hard to accept help, and when I do open up to accept it most people do not follow through.
I am curious what the world's belief systems / religions have to say about this.
I can only find information about giving and helping others, but nothing about being handicapped and receiving help.
Also how to cope with the endless ammounts of people who say a lot but do little (resulting in missed opportunities or more suffering).
I know a little about kharma and I understand I could be paying for my sins, so to speak, but I still need guidance while I am in this body on this earth.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Basically it says to help each other. Now if everyone is commanded to help others of course they can accept help. Besides if a person doesn't accept help soon they may later be a greater burden on society or some individual or community. Also it gives others the opportunity to give help and to become wiser. It gives both an opportunity to express love and gratitude, etc.

    Hello Reverend,
Thank you for your question. I am here because I need guidance. I need knowledge of what the greater minds and spirits of this universe have enlightened us with. Specifically in regards to this post: accepting / receiving help from others.
    Thank you for your time,
    Nathan

When you let people help you, you bless them. You give them the opportunity to share their best with you. Is there anything specific that you need?

    Hello Wasp,
When you say," it" , what are you referring to?
Is the reference to being a burden to society something you can cite for me somewhere in a book or text?
    Thank you,
    Nathan

Accepting help is no problem, and may even be compulsive if one would otherwise hurt oneself or others, whether directly or indirectly. By not accepting help, not only do you deprive yourself but others of being able to carry out charitable acts. Accepting help is exactly what it sounds like you need to do right now, as well as having serious talks with the people who want to help you but won't step up.

So much depends upon the country in which you live and what benefits your government or other agencies, provide for the disabled.

In Australia, where I live, there is a National Disability Insurance Scheme to provide help for those with a range of disabilities. Agencies have been established to provide care for the individuals who need some, or a lot of care. Not that our health care is perfect, but help is available for those who can't afford it.

However if you live in a country like America, it doesn't sound as if much help is offered or available from the government. Church agencies are often committed to helping those who need it but are overwhelmed by the demand. Charities cannot cope with the need....which seems to be increasing as the financial situation gets worse.

What kind of help do you require? Physical assistance? Mental and emotional support? Social interaction?

Just reaching out to people with whom to talk your problems through, can help alleviate the isolation that some people feel these days when we have largely lost our sense of community. Getting some input and feedback can give you a starting point.

If a person legitimately needs help, they should enthusiastically accept it.

I am a member of an online community that is dedicated to a specific neurological condition and the feedback from US members is heartbreaking. Those trying to care for their family members are forced to leave them to go to work in order to pay their bills and keep a roof over their heads. It's hard to imagine when you live in a country where caring for a family member is funded so that they never have to leave a disabled family member in order to keep the wolf from the door. Carer's here can receive two pensions for taking on full time care. One for those with low care responsibilities and a second one for high care.

It doesn't sound to me as if America has anything close to that. The cost of health care in the US is disgusting! Greed is rampant in all sectors by all appearances. It is starting to manifest here and it's worrying.

It really depends on the state.

Why? Aren't you all one country? Is it that some states just don't give a damn....or what?

    Reverend,
I do not know how to deal with
    HI Reverend,

I follow all the rules our country has set in place. I use all the systems that our government has designed to help. I do this all with honestly and integrity and the systems are failing me.
In the public (family, friends, neighbors, strangers) people say a lot, but do little.
I have laid out my problems and needs to those who offer help ( private, government, and public) and most of what I receive is lies.
I am now turning here for spiritual help (While my body withers, I still remain. I need my spirit to continue to grow while my shell transitions to dust.).
How can I move through this life with dignity when I do the right thing and nothing happens. How does one get help without begging or pleading? This process is causing great hurt and sadness on my soul. I need spiritual guidance. I need to know what the greater minds that were influenced and channeled by even greater spirits have said on how to live as someone in need.
All I can find is messages about giving and helping others, but nothing about the reverse. There are far more good words than good deeds. The people that are charged to take care of this world are mostly moving through it in desguise. The ones who offer the most help seem to be part of a greater design to hurt. (medical professionals, insurance companies, government entities).
I am doing all the right things in this life. Now I need to know spiritually how to do the right thing.
Should I blindly trust all to only be lead down dark pathways that meet dead ends surrounded by hounds?
Should I beg for help from anyone more fortunate than me?
    Should I give up?
Should I surrender my life to this world and pass to the other side?
Whatever the answer I would like to know what the belief systems and religions of the world have to say to people in this position of needing /accepting help.

Sorry this is not a simple one line q & a, and thank you for your concern and input, it is appreciated greatly.

    Nathan

    Never.
I know the bureaucracy and the foot dragging that people put you through can be depressing and stupefying. It is not like the crisis is getting you down but all the minutia that you have to go through just to get a little help and relief. But you have to stick in there and not let them get you down. What issues are you dealing with here?

    Hello Deeje,
Thank you for your insight on public / government services. I am currently involved in some amd do not qualify for others. On a daily basis I search for the establishments out there and receive little benefit.
I currently live in Louisiana, USA. I agree other countries would not let me fall through the cracks, but these are other topics that would take hours to discuss.
I'm in search of spiritual and religious information. I know that does not solve my immediate problems but my soul is much more important than my body ;).

Thank you s for your message, knowledge of public services, and concern,
    Nathan

i know you are looking for spiritual guidance but that you must seek that in prayer. What concerns me is your physical and mental needs and trying to find you the help you need there. You are cared for, let people help you the way they can. I can't be God to you and give you the succor that you need from God, but I can be a brother and friend and try my best to make sure you get some real life help. I am sure if you pray God's Holy Spirit will strengthen and secure you in these times but if I can find you help in regards to your welfare I will do my best.

Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you tells him, “Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,” but does not provide for his physical needs, what good is that? So too, faith by itself, if it is not complemented by action, is dead. James 2:15-17

    Hello Deeje,
USA is a strange place for policy and laws. Each city can make unique laws yet the state also can make different laws about the same things. Then the federal (country) can make different laws about the same things. Three laws all different and all enforceable. Federal beats state, state beats city, they all beat you haha. Very confusing, but there are similar services, but a lot of abuse.

    Thanks again,
    Nathan

If you you live in a Red State you might have a tougher time finding help. Hell, even some Blue States (such as California and the Homeless Crisis) are pretty bad at helping people but the more aggressive you are at pursuing help or if you have a no nonsense group of people having your back you will get help but they do make it hard.
