I've been watching great courses videos again, this time about the Etruscans who share deities in common with the Norse and the Greeks. They share some deities in common with the Norse, and both them and the Norse have nine main gods called the Aesir, plus an extended pantheon.

They have a goddess like Freya and Aphrodite. I don't remember which. It might be Voltumna, but the Etruscan aesir are formless, so they can be male or female when they manifest. For Etruscans both the form and the name can change, and this is simply part of the nature of the god. I don't see an easy search result that compares gods with gods, so I don't remember for sure which Etruscan deity is Freya.

I've been meaning to ask her how she got her cats to pull a chariot.

I believe even if she reincarnated on this planet she wouldn't remember anything about being a goddess.

I don't think she's from another planet, and I don't think she'd either 'reincarnate'(because, to my knowledge, Norse deities didn't typically do this) or forget.

I believe Norse myth intimates that they come from another planet. I have been there in a different incarnation so the desire to return is not so strange.

I don't believe there is any record of deities remembering a previous life but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Memories of past lives sometimes filter into the consciousness but most of them do not. It would be too much baggage to carry.

    Why do you believe this?

I agree with this. Sometimes when I hear people talk about the 'mercy of God', I think the mercy boils down to the fact that we can't remember our past lives typically, or we'd pine to death over lost loved ones and any regretful actions that we can no longer change.

I believe she's real, but she's not really part of my faith.

Same here. I believe the deities of all pantheons are real. There are a few non-Hindu deities I revere, though not full-on worship. I wouldn’t disrespect any of them, however.

Being Irish, I feel like I have the duty to revere the Irish Gods, so I do pray to Brigid from time to time. I also celebrate Imbolc. But my practice is mainly Hinduism.

Ares will always hold a special place in my heart, and I don't see a problem with that.

I think how anyone could keep her as goddess.

Freya is wonderful and one of the preeminent goddesses of the Norse religion. Her references and place names come from Scandinavia with none found in the Germanic areas unlike Frigg (which was seen spelled as Frija who is represented in the Germanic speaking area. She has the characteristic connection with both life and death as many of the Norse and Celtic goddesses can have and there are many who believe she was one and the same as Frigg being later separated apart in the later writings. She has the gift of Seidr involving magic of clairvoyance and divination as well as weaving the fates of others. She was the equal of any god.
