What do you think about TV Evangalists?

Thread title: What do you think about TV Evangalists?

I actually like some Televangelist like RW Shambach, Juanita Bynum, and even Benny Hinn all I can say is I am not going to talk against someone God may have annointed. If they are False Healers then they shall be Judged. Let God deal with the fakes not us. Because he can do a better job than we ever could

I question the motives of anyone who will tell you that God needs a lot of money sent to a certain post office box number.
Good point. What would God do with all the money televangelist claim he needs? I think a loving God would say keep your money if you need it, and donate it to a worthy cause when you can afford to. I don't think sending money in so the fraud can buy a new wardrobe and a better stage counts as a worthy cause.

Ah, my personal favourite was the one I accidentally caught on TV a while back. God needed money to buy him a jet so that he could fly to Scotland and convert the skirt wearing heathen.
Apparently God doesn't like commercial air travel or the concept of chartering aircraft.
He's also incapeable of converting the skirt wearing heathen without the aid of a televangelist with his very own plane...I put the blame for that squarely in the lap of Truthseekingsoul.:tsk:

Benny Hinn sometimes asks the folk he's about to heal their religion. Anyone who replies "Catholic" usually gets a "Good...catholics usually heal quicker."

i don't know. that's just what he said. I beleive he was insinuating that catholics are closer to jesus or some such thing thus could more easily be healed by mr.hinns' holy touch. that's just what i got from it, though.

These people pray on the hapless victims. A person who tells you that he will heal all your pain and sins is definitely lying. people are just looking at ways which will make them feel better and that to quickly. Smart people utilize that to make profit. Where there is demand there is always supply. The chains that we create binds us to this world of dispair and when you find a cure you dont see if it realy cures, you just take it. Benny Hinn and his kind pray on those kind of people. It is just business. God is the biggest marketable product is this world (though i feel very bad to say that). Just see how much money God makes for these people. God is the biggest brand and there is no rival to that brand, be it any religion. God sells a lot more than Jenny from the block or opps girl.

I am a Christian, and I say that 95% or so of televangelists are full of it. They have done more harm to the name of Jesus, and turned more people from God, and any chance of hearing the goodnews that would keep them out of hell, than all the bars, whorehouses, casinos, liquor stores, drugs, etc. etc. combined. They infuriate me at times!

Benny Hinn has been proven time and again to be a fraud, I do not believe in 'faith healers'. Most are after money and fame and that's it. There are a FEW true, good preachers, teachers out there on TV that are genuinely concerned with spreading the gospel, but most are as the Bible warned, in the 2nd chapter of 2nd Peter, they with feigned words will make MERCHANDICE of you...And other places that say they are out to fill their own bellies, (and pockets). And for them, I shudder to think how it will be on judgement day. Most on TV are either crooked, or they have poor theology, only a handful are excellent. I find some of the better ones on the radio.

Now I am not saying all PREACHERS are bad, but that most on TV are bad. I love a genuine, Bible-believing preacher who is concerned with keeping as many people out of hell as he possibly can, and who has genuine love and compassion on the poor and sick and needy, and who correctly, and painstakingly studies the Word of God so that he can present it as accurately and honestly as he can, instead of trying to make it fit into his own 'theology'.

It is so sad, because so many have been turned off by a few screwball, selfish people. I am sure the devil gets a big kick out of it all, as do many unbelievers. I just hope people will search with an open and honest heart for the truth, Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man comes to the Father but by me." and "He that believeth in me HATH everlasting life! PEACE!

The only ones I have seen here in England have been on Cable - from America. I don't want to sound judgemental, but the ones I have seen seem to like a lot of 'Glitz' around them, and like shouting; that doesn't seem much like a way of evangelizing............:shout

I think this Metallica song expresses my view on the matter close enough...

Leper Messiah

(Hetfield, Ulrich)

"Spineless from the start, sucked into the part
circus comes to town, you play the lead clown
Please, please
spreading his disease, living by his story
Knees, knees
falling to your knees, suffer for his glory
You will You will You will You will

Time for lust, time for lie
time to kiss your life goodbye
Send me money, send me green
Heaven you will meet
Make your contribution
and you'll get a better seat
Bow to Leper Messiah

Marvel at his tricks, need your Sunday fix
blind devotion came, rotting your brain
chain chain
Join the endless chain
Taken by this leper

Fame, Fame
Infection is the game, stinking drunk with power
We see We see We see We see

Time for lust, time for lie
time to kiss your life goodbye
Send me money, send me green
Heaven you will meet
Make your contribution
and you'll get a better seat
Bow to Leper Messiah

Bow to Leper Messiah

Witchery, weakening
sees the sheep are gathering
set the trap, hypnotize
now you follow

Time for lust, time for lie
time to kiss your life goodbye
Send me money, send me green
Heaven you will meet
Make your contribution
and you'll get a better seat

Lie. Lie. Lie. Lie. Lie. Lie. Lie. Lieeeeeeeeeee "

You used the song I already used. I guess great minds do think alike.

I was wathing this program on National Geographic Channel called Exorcism, part of thier Is It Real series. This one guy and his team supposedly do 100's of exorcisms a month. He does all of these exorcisms, complete with lights, microphone (he will actually put he microphone up to the "possessed" person's mouth so the "demon" can be heard.), and camera crew, and many spectators. After hes done exorcising demons, he does a sells hype for his 20 - 70 dollar cd's and dvd's that supposedly teach how to do exorcisms, and become exorcist themeselves. That guy has ripped of far too many people.
Even the Catholic church admits that most cases of demon possession are really just some normal, logically explainable mental condition or disease. Most people who want to blame possession for a small problem, and truly believe that there possed, can be easily cured just by anyone who just acts like thier talking to the demon and forcing it out. The placebo effect. Shouldn't charge for something like that, but if people insist on paying, its thier money, not mine.

im a christian and what i think about the tv evangelists nowadays is..they are completion of what the Bible had prophesied of the coming and rising of false prophets in the last days. but there is one thing i am sure of that one among those tv evangelists is the second persona of Jesus Christ. remember when Jesus Christ told his disciples in Matthew that there will come a time of the son of man coming down in glory in the last days and his message and image will be heard / seen in the four corners of the world. in modern times, this is an evangelist proclaiming same kingdom message that Christ proclaimed before the jewish people 2000 years ago.

just see and make a study about them....you will probably know
