What Do You Feel Is Right About Islam?

The sense of brotherhood is one of its best aspects. The emphasis on submitting one's own will to the will of God is another.

It's destroying itself.

That unfortunately is part of the process of senescence in religion. Christianity is also going through it, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, etc.., etc.

But the comment you made is hardly in the spirit of the thread.

Not sure if this is applicable to Islam itself or just the governments that adhere to it but I find that when you politicize religion you can have some of the most immoral societies. That seems to be the norm with the Middle-East countries that are a majority, Islamic. Whether Islam itself makes this possible or not....?

That there is one God.
That that God is the God of Abraham.
That He loves us.
Submitting to God's will.

Ummmm....it looks like I put this post in the wrong spot. Probably doesn't refelect what I believe is right about Islam. Whether it is deleted or moved to the "What Do You Feel Is Wrong With Islam?" thread works for me.

Politicizing religion is never good. Too many doctors, nurses in the US have died at the hands of politicized Christians.

I love the Muslims' commitment and devotion to God.
I love that they have strong family values.
I love that they believe in modesty and chastity before marriage.

I wanted to learn more about Islam, so I checked the Qur'an out of the library and read it. I think one should learn about a faith and/or religion before s/he criticizes it.

Dont make me wet myself please :biglaugh:

Thats not nice :(

The good: such a beautiful religion in theory. Emphasizes Brotherhood, respect toward women, respect toward parents, and the value of peace and equality.

The Bad: Often misrepresented by bad people (media doesn't help). Often confused with other negative aspects of culture.

Reading the Qur'an gave me insight into how the media and terrorists have ruined the image of Islam. It's so sad.
