Which itself was a comment on the statement to lower taxes.

I guess I get a bit touchy myself at such suggestions.
A bit of a lull in extremism would be ever so welcome.

taxation has never been to the advantage of the country

Ya know what's really odd?
The left obsesses over taxing the wealthy, but pays little
attention to making things easier for lower income folk.
There are 3 things they need to incentive their productivity....
1) No tax, either income or payroll.
2) No drastic reduction of safety net benefits as their income increases.
3) Less restraint of trade which prevents business formation.

My point was more about "I can not" instead of "it is harder for me to do X" and/or get away with it.

Yes. The UN provides humanitarian aid to a number of nations that can not feed their own populations. This aid is life support for government and nation-state as without it citizens would be revolting if not in outright rebellion. Food isn't the only thing but it is a major one.
