What do jws think of predestination?

From a Biblical perspective, very few individuals were predestined for a specific place in God's purpose. Jesus and John the Baptist are two I can think of who feature with regard to Christianity. Both had miraculous births and their role was vital to the fulfilling of God's will regarding the king and his kingdom....and the way to restore God's original purpose for mankind.

The 144,000 who will rule with Christ in heaven were predestined as a group, but because of free will, individuals can fall away necessitating their replacement.

Similarly Abraham's descendants through his son Isaac were to feature as a nation in producing the promised seed through whom all the nations would be blessed. God foreordained even the tribe from which Messiah would come.

As for individual predestination....no. Free will means that we have to choose to serve God of our own volition. The heart and mind are involved. We can choose our own path and each has a different destination. (Matthew 7:13-14)
