Were biblical humans less violent than modern humans?

You can put your own constraints on this argument. 2 BC, 200 BC, 100 AD... What are your thoughts? Were ancient people less or more violent than humans today? Was a larger percentage of the total population being killed and raped then or today?

Is civilization getting more violent or less violent?

Maybe more violent, because nowadays we need to have camera surveillance on every corner and all “smart” devices to spy on us so that we would not do bad things? And because of the surveillance, we have to settle to all entertainment violence, movies and games, where we can do all the evil things we want? Imagine, if we would not have the surveillance and the games, people would be on streets in full mayhem.

Don't think this argument holds water but if it does for you perhaps we could get a few more cameras in your vicinity.
