Mother Heathen
It's been a while. I've written something similar, but this came to mind after standing outside last night. Wrote it on the back of old Christmas stationary. This is how the night moved me.

night
it glistens
in its own right
like tears
on ground
gloss
flowers that wither
in their own depression
leaning forward
as if defeated
by the day that's passed
shadows dance across
brick and concrete
and breeze flicks about
pieces of tree and earth
and sky moves like time
with a purpose
ferocious and unforgiving
a sacred sight
a haunting force
this precious night
that threatens
to devour me
and leave me
with thoughts
too dark

dawny0826

Mother Heathen
eats beneath the skin
but cannot touch
a spirit
still full of youth
made of things
that grow
like vines
and fly
like
winged
things

...to the kiss of the coming 'now',
I bid adieux,
awaiting the next lip's touch...
kinda like,
the silence of a shadow's smile,
here and gone...

Mother Heathen
alone it seems
in dancing
the wind
has gone
so still
and still these
they're churning
yet nothing
really
they yield

dawny0826

Mother Heathen
fears have stolen
sparks of orange
golden orbs
that flew to
heights
that soared
above trees
like dandelion
seeds
light
weightless
swirled
small wonders
they were
distant now
but precious
still

Mother Heathen
she's falling in love
and denies
her very nature
and her older sister
shakes her head
with humor
as a mother would
in love
in hope
for all the good in the world
conjuring bubble thoughts
bubble thoughts of happiness
and peacefulness for she
and he
as they embark on this blissful
journey on water
and cloud
sail
sail away
into bosom
of purple and pink
sky
let the night embrace
you as you fall

'Now' can be as sudden as an instant passing,
and as gleaming as tomorrow's promise,
just remember to kiss yesterday away as it leaves,
and hug the present of the time we have for the moment.
