WAPO- Those Vulgar Anti- Joe Biden people

Washington post has exposed the vulgar and divisive rhetoric of those who do not stand behind the current U.S. president. Never before has anyone, anywhere, at any time shown so much disrespect to a sitting U.S. president, thank goodness Washington Post was there to keep us all informed.

Criticism of Biden turns vulgar - The Washington Post

From article:

"During the 2020 presidential campaign, one of Biden’s political superpowers was his sheer inoffensiveness, the way he often managed to embody — even to those who didn’t like him — the innocuous grandfather, the bumbling uncle, the leader who could make America calm, steady, even boring again after four years of Donald Trump."

"Yet the anger also demonstrates how a political party or cause often needs an enemy, a target of vilification that can unite its adherents "

" The current eruption of anti-Biden signs and chants, however, is on another level, far more vulgar and widespread."

"Then there are the chants. In early October, a “F--- Joe Biden!” cry broke out among the crowd at Alabama’s Talladega Superspeedway. Kelli Stavast, an NBC Sports reporter, was interviewing NASCAR driver Brandon Brown live on air at the time, and she quipped, “You can hear the chants from the crowd, ‘Let’s go Brandon!’ ”
Trump supporters instantly saw signs of a coverup, claiming on social media that journalists were deliberately censoring anti-Biden sentiment. The brief video exchange quickly turned viral.

The result has been a proliferation of chants in recent weeks, both of “Let’s go Brandon!” — now used as a stand-in by the Trump faithful — and the more vulgar original, sometimes shorthanded as “FJB.”"

“One of the many legacies of the Trump presidency is he normalized angry speech,” said Mike Murphy, a Republican strategist and Trump critic. “Trump and our culture in general has beaten decorum out of politics, so now it’s just angry rage therapy — so you get out your Magic Marker and you do your coarse lawn sign.”
"That tribalism is reflected in surveys."

This all sounds very familiar

I'm not sure what disturbs me more, the fawning over Dear Leader Biden or the political amnesia the writer of this article displays, the whole mess rubber stamped and approved by those who signs their cheques.

Disrespecting the sitting president is becoming a common thing anymore.
It happened with Obama and Trump. Why would Biden be any different.

Who is fawning over Biden? He's gotten plenty of criticism from his own party.

or the political amnesia the writer of this article displays, the whole mess rubber stamped and approved by those who signs their cheques.
What amnesia, of what?

The article describes what is occurring among USA conservatives very accurately. There are few policy positions of republicans today. Much of their fervor is outrage over misleading accusations, like socialism.

Well, I'm just shocked that so many supposed Christian patriotic Americans would use such vulgar language in public. What a disgrace. Of course, the First Amendment would still allow it - although I think there are some jurisdictions which might still prohibit swearing in public. (I remember a case a while back where someone got cited for swearing. He was having a bad day fishing and shouted out a few "F bombs.")

Why can't they say things like "I strongly disagree with Joe Biden" or "I strenuously object to Joe Biden's policies"?

It's an ongoing American pastime to make fun of and ridicule politicians, including presidents. America has a love/hate affair with politics and government in general. But some of this is pushing the envelope.

There's a certain recklessness in the restlessness.

I don't see the conservatives as knowing WHY they oppose any particular policy. They have adopted a platform of intolerance and non-cooperation.

I suspect the new voting laws and gerrymandering will result in republican majorities in the coming elections and if so we will see what happens next.

Criticism is part of politics, but so is good faith and honoring the norms. That is disintegrating with conservatives who think they are entitled to leadership.

I remember when Obama first took office, everyone half joked that the “crazy Americans” would assassinate him because he was a POC. Not even kidding that was literally our collective reaction

But he was seen as dignified and poised, regardless of politics. I mean people still mocked him though.
Trump took over and everyone sort of joked that it was the ultimate American stereotype come to fruition.
Biden won and some (not all) self confessed conservatives threw a temper tantrum and literally tried to assassinate politicians.
And yeah I know they are a minority. But they still did that.

That was the day it stopped being a bit of a laugh. Because it was just straight up anarchy. If anything derogatory language is progress lol

Like there was a good month where the rest of the world was just like,
Hey America. You guys okay over there?

I guess this is what baffles me about US politics in general. As soon as one outlet or anything criticises the Reps of doing something, the defence is always, well no you. Same if they criticise the Dems.

I mean I vote and I have a “side.” But I couldn’t care less if someone mocks them. They’re politicians they don’t need my help. Screw em.
You want to make fun of my Prime Minister? I’ll likely join you. Even if I voted for their party.

The U.S. is now echoing loudly all across the print, radio, and tv media with professional paid liars and slanderers shouting their extremist fear-mongering vitriol 24-7. It is honestly frightening to stumble on of their radio broadcasts by accident, and discover the absolute insanity they are spewing hour after hour after hour after hour. Anyone listening to that crap must already have mush for brains, because no sane human could put up with it for more than a few shocking minutes.

I'm hoping that eventually one of those outlets gets successfully sued for the damage they did to someone by their insane lying and fear-mongering, and they have to pay out such a huge settlement that the rest of them get frightened back under the rocks from which they slithered.

As to Biden, he's just another toady for the corporate elites that have been paying to keep him in office for the last 40 years, to do their bidding. True, he's not a narcissistic psychopath, exactly, but he's not going to fix anything, either. He couldn't even if he wanted to. We have far too many corrupt corporate toadies in power now for any one politician to ever make a positive dent.

I wish I could say otherwise, but I really don't see any way this ship of fools is ever going to be turned back from the giant abyss that it's heading for. And I feel bad for the young people in this country, because their future is not going to be pretty. Their parents and grand parents **** all over it with their greed and stupidity.

Sorry kids!

For the same reason you avoid ansewring mine I suppose, you get what you give.
When I first asked you that question, you responded with a question of your own. So either you can predict the future, or you already went into this discussion without any intention of explaining yourself.
(I answered your question, by the way, while you still haven't answered mine.)

So what is the real reason why you aren't engaging with the question?
Why are you so adamant in your refusal to explaining just what this reminds you of?

In all honesty I’ve thought this way about American news outlets all my life. Probably because I grew up on our news media often reacting to their takes with baffled amusement.
Like for example I first heard of Ben Shapiro from a news segment lightly mocking him for hating on Big Bird from Sesame Street.
Not even kidding. It baffled me to see him taken seriously as an “intellectual” in some spaces.
