Lot's of good news from Europe lately, Germanies Merkel will quit politics and Macron's popularity is down in flames. Marine Le Pen is back like a phoenix rising from the fire and they still can't seem to break the habit of calling her far-right when she seems more a centrist and I think we all know why. For those that live in France (and those that don't) what do you make of all this?

I started to assume this was a positive report about France and the wonderful job Macron did in the WWI remembrance but then I noticed the OP.

People of good will and positive outlook need to stop the dark forces at work from the leader of the current American regime who ran from a few rain drops to those in Europe who would resurrect the evil past.

So europe is following the USA and Britain and and you think its its good news?

BTW Merkel is German, not French

Yes I understand that Merkel is German, that is why I stated in the OP that she was Germanies, not sure why you chose something as petty and misleading as that for a point of contention-oh well.
The reason I included her is because this rise has has been a long time in coming in the big picture in Europe.
I do not think that France is following the U.S. or the U.K., France has it's own role to play in this shift.

Ah ok, so Vive la France is not the whole story .just misleading click bait... See where this goes?

The Us and britain have moved right wing, France, a traditionally socialist country is being invaded from within by le pen, fascism is returning to europe.

Im not on france at the moment but hubby is. Every city, town and village commemorates armistice day. He skyped me with a full report from our village. The village has just over 500 inhabitants, everyone, from youngest to oldest turned out. Very moving and special for 100th anniversary. After the commemoration ceremony at the cenotaph everyone paraded to the cemetery and each of the war dead were commemorated with "(name) mort de france" and flowers placed on the grave by the youngest members of the village.

Let Pen is not a Fascist. Actual Fascist parties are still on the fringes in Europe. This is just right wing populism.

Invaded from within? How about Le Pen gaining support because people are fed up with the failures of the prevailing wisdoms and their leaders? The charges of Le Pen being a facist is just a smear by political enemies to play upon lingering post WWII Nazi fears.

Nope the charges of le pen being branded fascist are because le pen and the front national/national rally {whatever name she wants to hide behind) are fascist.
