Vatican Pontifical Academy For Life issues statement Supreme Court abortion decision

...and don't we all know it. This is the ridiculous position the Catholic church finds itself in: the best way by far to avoid the need for abortions is widespread and effective contraception. So the teaching of the church - and hence the reluctance of schools with a Catholic ethos to teach the importance of effective contraception in sex education - results in more abortions!
That is a non sequitur. The Catholic Church also has the position of abstinence outside of marriage. Also the birth rate in many Catholic countries is dropping (to below replacement rates). Which suggests other factors determine the number of pregnancies and hence abortions.

But it does raise the curious question, at least for me, would a Catholic so loyal to obeying the Church on no contraception, would commit the greater sin of abortion?
The issue is more one of failure to teach about contraception in schools, leading to abortions later through lack of knowledge about how to use contraception effectively.

While abstinence may be the position of the church, that is not what actually happens in the community. We all know that. Ignoring what really goes on and teaching doctrine that makes it worse is stupid.

Including beyond the Church, there is so much resistance for sound sex education in public schools. So kids get the needed info from the streets or the internet, from questionable sources to say the least.

Actually the staunchest advocates for the abortion ban are the Bible-Belt- states where there is an overwhelming Baptist majority. Or Protestant in general.
In Catholiland (my country) no politician has ever cast doubts on abortion.
It's the fact the Vatican protected and shielded child rapists and blamed the victims and everything else except the rapists. They have no moral authority or credibility.

Several dioceses have covered up those cases, all over the world. It deals with very isolated cases, and people need to distinguish between the Catholic Church and the Vatican.
They are two very distinct things, because all over the world there are dioceses administered by a bishop.

The Vatican is the head authority of the Roman Catholic Church. It did assist in harboring and protecting child rapists. And no, it wasn't isolated, This happened around the world, over decades (if not longer), and the dioceses and Vatican were covering it up and moving rapists around to protect those guilty of heinous wrongs, and keeping silent and doing nothing about which let the abuse continue.

The Southern Baptist Convention applauded the SCOTUS decision too.

”We” don’t all know that. You may believe that yourself. That is something else.

No, he's right. Abstinence is a weak method.
Even priests in the church fail to practice it.
We should recognize nature, & accommodate
it where no harm is done.
Nope. This depends on how you are defining “weak”. If actually practiced abstinence is 100% effective as a contraceptive. Unlike other forms of contraceptives which are less than 100% effective. There is nothing in nature that precludes abstinence. This is clear since many people can and do practice abstinence. So any weakness is with the practitioner, not the method. The Catholic Church is not responsible for the malpractice of some of its members. Just as those who misuse other forms of contraception don’t disprove their effectiveness either.

For men maybe.
As for women, we all dream of the prince charming.
And by the way, Italian women are not turned on by bisexuals so they look for 100% heterosexual men. And handsome.

With these premises...do you think it is easy to find a man with whom one has sex chemistry?
Imagine the odds of getting pregnant .
