It kind of defeated the point of getting a vaccine in the first place.

    The vaccine is still protective.
    It just isn't infallible.
So masks are still useful until the virus dies down.

Not really. Even though they can still get it and still spread it, they/some/many have some protection from severe infections.

Yes, that's an excellent argument in favor of vaccination. Unfortunately, you're unlikely to get more than a slim majority in your country to agree to that, so masks are unlikely to go away unless politicians deliberately risk another surge of COVID for the sake of approval ratings among the anti-maskers.

I suspect the pandemic is almost over for the U.S. with the population close to herd immunity as most everybody is going to have C.O.V.I.D.-19 anti-bodies either by being vaccinated or by having been infected by C.O.V.I.D.-19. F*** the masks!

Half the US adult population is fully vaccinated for COVID 19. Another ten percent have at least one of the vaccines with the second to be given within the next month. An additional ten percent have immunity from infection.

Hasn't the latest consensus been that there is no such thing for COVID?

And even if there was, a 50% vaccination rate wouldn't be nearly enough to achieve anything even approaching herd immunity against a virus as contagious as the recent COVID-19 variants.

But I guess you've already convinced yourself that you don't need to wear a mask, so godspeed to you.

If 50% get the vaccine and 40% get the virus...50+40= 90% will have antibodies.
However current studies show with the vaccine, the antibodies % starts dropping after 6 months(which is why the talks of boosters shots). I haven't seen much yet on how long the antibodies last from having covid.

Very simple. Those people whose authority you think is not to be questioned. You call yourself a “SkepticThinker” but couldn’t figure that much out by yourself. Some “skeptic”.

My computer, smart phone 's battery as well as my electric vehicle are charged by electricity from nuclear power, which does not pollute the air with carbon emissions. However, not everybody's electricity comes from such a carbonless energy source. My electricity is more environmentally friendly than electricity consumed by most anybody else.

My electricity comes across the state from lines to stations and substations. And honestly where it comes from before that I have never really thought to research it.

Perhaps we have not quite reached herd immunity yet. However, I'm guessing case numbers will significantly drop within the next few weeks as welll over 70 percent of the U.S. adult population becomes fully vaccinated, just like what has now occurred in the U.K.

When enuf people either catch Covid or get vaccinated, we'll
have herd immunity. The problem with catching the disease is
that it requires far more deaths & long haul afflictions to get there.

The other problem is its a world disease and only around 25%-27% of the world are vaccinated/have started vaccinations(1 of 2 shots).
