So, I feel like everyone has at least one film that everyone hates that they love and a film they hate but everyone loves.

I never really liked Grease. Songs are catchy as hell and I sing along every time. So I do get it. But I don’t know, just never got the hype. We watched it a lot in school and I just hated it.

(Not ruling out live shows though. Maybe I’d love them, I dunno.)

I liked the film Repo: A Genetic Opera.
I would never argue it’s a flawless movie because it’s anything but. But I liked it in a sort of “Rocky Horror” kind of way.

Bonus shout out to the Scooby Doo live action movie. Maybe I’d hate it now, but I liked it enough as a kid lol. It had a self deprecating sense of humour and had some fairly good nods to the OG show. Also it had Buffy lol

What are some of yours?

Crash (2004)
Possibly the worst movie I've ever seen.

There Will Be Blood
Agonizingly slow & boring.
And I never saw any blood until the very end.

The Hudsucker Proxy
One of the greatest movies ever made.

I hated Fargo, even though it was highly rated, won, awards, and was widely…enjoyed?
I’ll admit Frances McDormand did a great job acting as the cop/main character, but it was too….over the top with gore and patheticness (as most horror movie are).
It was supposed to be a comedy. I have a very dark sense of humor, but have never seen the appeal of morbid comedies.

True Genius was.a phenomenally fantastic movie to me, yet wasn’t much more than a blip in the theaters. I think it was too much over the heads of many, and most couldn’t related to smart characters who had a life outside of books and neediness.

The Master - The Master

Joaquin Phoenix's performance was so irritating it caused me physical discomfort.

Crash (2004)
Possibly the worst movie I've ever seen.

A dreadful, unwatchably pretentious dirge

Not sure if these quite count as I know a fair few people like them, I just think they are great while the general critical consensus was that they they were somewhat short of being great.

The running man - vintage Arnie delivering McBain style one-liners

Bloodsport & Kickboxer - Jean Claude van Damme delivering performances of unbelievable gravitas in these arthouse masterpieces. Bonus points for The Greatest Scene in Movie History™

I'm told that I'm too picky about movies. I hate musicals; if someone starts singing I'm done. Out of there. I hate horror and action with a few exceptions; I can predict a horror plot within 5 minutes of the opening credits. My sister is a great horror film fan and she's tested my on that claim several times. M Night Shyamalan is the exception. I've liked all of his that I've seen. I hate almost all sci-fi. To me sci-fi should be intelligent, but it's always as dumb as super hero crap.

All through school I was an avid reader and would read any Frank Herbert and Douglas Adams I could get my hands on. Especially the Dune series. All of which and much more Frank Herbert you can read online free without having to log in or sign up to anything here. So I was so excited in 1984 when David Lynch released the Dune movie. It sucked. But years later the Sci-fi channel's Dune series was awesome. You can watch it free on You Tube below.

SciFi Channel's Dune Series.

Forest Gump, i thought was a silly movie, most people seem to love it.

The 13th warrior, i loved and watch it over around every couple of years. It was slated by the critics and I've only know a couple of people who also like it

David Lynch's version is the best.
He really knew how to portray the Harkonnens.

Over-rated.....
Jaws was 99% boring plot to justify occasional
terror provided by the shark.

Too long. I'm glad I've seen it once, but wouldn't want to see it again. Castaway was a complete waste of time. I did like The Terminal. A lot of good Tom Hanks movies. You've Got Mail, Turner And Hootch, The Money Pit, Green Mile. Didn't like Saving Private Ryan, loved Charlie Wilson's War. A lot I haven't seen. Wouldn't even watch the Da Vinci Code. Couldn't get into Philadelphia.

I like do like Tom Hanks, that's really why i watched Forest Gump. I was disappointed.

I saw the Da Vinci code just after visiting Florence, there was so much wrong with the film it spoiled it for me.

Let's say that I am the most unpopular person on RF...as for movies preferences...

Most RF members are males
So I guess I am probably the only one here who veneers American romantic comedies, telenovelas, and romantic TV shows...:p
