By the Grace of God I have been offered a place at university to study Theology :)

I would like to brush up on theological arguments, debates, understandings, thinkers etc. This is in a mostly Christian context so I will need to read/hear from Christian theologians, philosophers etc. This includes the Church Fathers. I have very limited money right now and I am not trying to spend, so online resources are also very welcome although I would like books as well.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks.

    Congratulations!

Harvard has a big list of free online courses:

    Free Courses

I scanned the first page and saw a humanities course called "Religion, Conflict and Peace" - I'm not sure what other courses you'll find if you search the list.

I do strongly recommend the Harvard online courses, and other free major academic university courses, which I frequently take.

A google revealed many Christian online logic and philosophy courses that lean strongly toward Christian apologetics.

My recommendation is to study the early Greek philosophers as a foundation. There are three perspectives of these philosophers: (1) The view and meaning of the early Greek philosophers in the time it was written. (2) Their influence on and nature of the history of philosophers up to the present in academic philosophy and logic. {2} The development of Christian and Islamic apologetic logic and philosophy based on the Greek philosophers.

Congratulations. Studying is always worthwhile even theology, especially theology if you want to become an atheist. (I know a few who ended up that way but I also know pastors, so, no guarantee.)

No any links, but rather this.

Learn the school of thoughts of your instructors and the specific university. What you do with that, is something else, but it helps if you understand the school of thoughts/ideology/academic tradition and so on.

I would like to point out that this is a secular university albeit linked to CofE stuff, but as far as I am aware there is no religious bent to the university as a whole. It's just a uni that takes special interest in religion the same way some unis take special interest in STEM or Law.

    That sounds great
I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy it.

My advice would be "reduce RF time to the minimum", because university study is not easy, though I know you are a fast reader (you reply usually to my post, before I finish checking if I made errors in my post)

    Have a great time

So is it purely academic? I.e. there are these texts and concepts and they works this way and they disagree here and not there. Or is there also a value system? That is the ideology and it ends here - you ought to evaluate the texts and concepts with these assumptions, which are the correct ones to use.
    There is a difference. :)

It's academic and uses multiple sources. This is why I said 'mostly Christian'.

Congrats! I hope you have a great time doing this!

A suggestion: always read more than just the required readings...find out who supported and who opposed the writer/s of the required reading, and why...at least early on, keep zooming out to the 30,000 foot level of the broad academic approaches to scripture and interpretation, and zoom back in to see how individual writers assess particular lines from the readings...
