United States Now Leading the World for COVID-19 Infections

With all the changing info, I'll bet everyone will
make wrong recommendations wrong at times.
Would Hillary have handled it better? There'll be
many answers, but they don't really know.

i think the big negatives for me with regard to the current administration is that there was a group of folks tasked with handling such events which was disbanded in 2018 (since we had no pandemic, right?) and the CDC (which has it's own set of issues) also had it's budget cut by said administration.

Some people have to find someone to blame.
Myself, I do not live in the past. I only care abut what Trump does now, and moving forward.

You do not believe Mr. Trump's past behavior is any indication of his future behavior, eh? Interesting theory.

That struck me as a bad move.
But even that unit would've been less than prepared for the Coronavirus.
It's now obvious that we need to be prepared on a much larger scale, eg,
stocking critical supplies in quantities such that no shortage arises.

On top of the pandemic, I've long thought that we're unprepared for
several potential crises, eg, war, terrorism, tsunamis, earthquakes,
supervolcanoes, storms.
I've tried to address as many as practical, but I could do more.
Tornadoes...I'm not prepared for those. But I do have extra food,
fuel, water, generators, firewood, etc.

There are people who have changed seriously as the famous Bible story asserts. I'd be among the first to applaud and cheer if this were to happen but I've not seen any evidence that there's been a deep rooted change in his personality.

No, I don't because I believe people can change, especially when they are forced to deal with a crisis situation.
Maybe his character won't change but his behavior might change, and I believe that is happening.

All that matters to me now is his behavior. This is not the time to rank on Trump, as it solves nothing.
Besides, how do you know any other president could have handled it better?
You cannot know, unless you are the all-knowing God. ;)

But with 2020 vision (hmmm), it's clear that if the response was not "only a few and it will go away soon" but rather listening to those that said it was likely to spread, we would have been miles ahead.

Was that "the" response?
I heard a variety, many more alarmist that that.

You know for certain the World Health Organizations stats are more accurate than Johns Hopkins, eh?

I don't think you really know. I think you're just assuming they are more accurate.

Me, I'm going with Johns Hopkins.
The error is "have". We're finally ramping up testing seriously and the numbers are exploding. The comparison between a country that has had decent testing for a while and the US is invalid.

People do not change their personality when they are in their 70s...
I do not think that his character matters at this point, all that matters is his behavior, how he handles this pandemic.
God could help him if he chooses to do the right things....

And those that die unnecessarily are just garbage losers including health care workers and supermarket checkers.

According to some fact-based estimates, Sunrise, the difference between fighting this thing and just allowing it to run amok in the expectation it will die out as "the herd" acquires immunity could easily amount to millions of lives saved.

You never make educated guesses because you don't really know how things will turn out. You don't really know what will happen if I close my eyes and stomp on the gas pedal until it happens. You don't really know what will happen.

I guess you don't watch the news, read the newspapers etc....
Actually, if you were familiar with broadly based news,
then you too would've seen a variety of responses
from various experts & leaders.

I see that you posted a video about Trump.
There is more going on than what he says or does.
I know this is an anti-Trump thread, & doomed to
being echo chamberie. But I'm not playing that game.
Policies & advise have varied greatly from locale to
locale, state to state, & country to country.

Well that's absurd.
To make educated guesses, & adapt to changing & new info
is the best approach (IMO). It will be imperfect, but optimum.

Are you really that dangerous a driver?
Or is this one of those straw man analogy thingies?

Country A tests 5000 people out of every 100,000 in its population and finds that it has 60,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Country B tests 50 people out of every 100,000 in its population and finds that it has 40,000 confirmed cases.

Question. Which country is likely to have the higher infection rate?

What are the populations of each?

Give this a listen. The charts are interesting.
