“I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, said. “That makes sure that person has clothes.” [ibid]

That's not unacceptable. That's infuriating and dangerous.

There are always bad eggs in every humans endeavor. Black lives matter is more of a rally call than an organization. Several organizations have tried to commandeer the rally for there own. If you want to call the organization that ran the rally in Chicago bad that is fine but to call Black Lives Matter bad is wrong.

    tricky business this..

Do you think that a financially secure person would be involved in looting? Probably not.

While I'm not a huge fan of how BLM implements its strategies, they have shed light on a huge problem, that of wealth and income inequality. The protests and riots we're seeing these days are most likely a mild taste of what's to come.. soon. It's looking like DC will drag its feet, and that tens of millions of people will be facing eviction very soon. When that happens, the s#it is REALLY gonna hit the fan.

If it was food then maybe loot just the food at Mcdonald's, Burger King, or KFC?

I would agree that poverty promotes crime, but isn't this whole issue over police racial relations?

When did stores themselves become inclusive in all this?

Excellent point, and it demonstrates why I'm no fan of BLM. While police brutality is indeed a serious problem, it's a drop in the bucket compared to the economic brutality that our so-called "leaders" have allowed to occur. It's economic brutality that BLM should be focusing their activities on.

Thats why I was careful to limit the blame on this particular looting spree. Yet to have an organizer say things like this....

I'm waiting for BLM to decry this behavior and have this person removed from organizing future rallies.

Question is does anyone see this happening?

That's what happens when a corrupt failed government allows the gap between rich and poor to grow into the Grand Canyon. It's called class warfare and the rich fired the first volleys and cause the most devastation. If justice and equity are not attained in this country soon, guillotines might make a comeback. Crying over gigantic corporate stores being looted (they have insurance) is a distraction.

    Agree.

I strongly believe in the right of peaceful protest, but using violence and theft dishonors, and thus counters, the message of protest.

In principle, I agree. And I'm NOT one of those who WANTS TO BURN SOCIETY DOWN.

But we citizens have been turning the other cheek for decades and our leaders have been raping and pillaging our society. I think we're running out of time for peaceful protests. Again, I'm not advocating any violence or other criminal activity. BUT, I fear that that's what it's gonna take before the ***#oles in DC actually do something.

Yep they are incrementally destroying their message and will further stigmatize any future events and rallies making things even tougher than ever.

We know something ought to be done. Question is, who would be capable of accomplishing it?

All people see is thuggery now.

I believe in peaceful protest, but I also believe in the Just-War Theory as well, so...
