I would like to think most rational folks would follow this line of thought. Russia is that country that no one can really afford to mess with. If a conflict gets hot, my mind races to nuclear arms. Nothing good can come from that.

Nuclear conflict is possible if Ukraine has'm, & if the Russian threat is
great enuf to provoke their use. But even Russia knows that hard limits
to its behavior could invite a strong united western response.
Putin is aggressive, but I doubt that he's stupid.
