Being paid to attend isn't quite the same as being forced.

But it does give one pause. People are being paid to attend a political rally. Is it legal to pay people to attend a rally and call it wages? Can the employers really write that as a business deduction? Isn't the money paid a political donation to Trump?

Not that the Trump administration is likely to ask questions like that. Could the attendees hold up a "Go Tulsi Gabbard!" sign?

That's union workers for ya, worthless.

They want to get paid to not attend a conference and not have to work either.

The plant was shut down for the entire day. The workers were offered to be paid to hang out and attend Trumps speech, they didn't have to do anything else. Or they could have the day off and go home (and receive no pay for that day because OT is not mandatory or a right, so yeah, you don't get paid for doing zilch).

Only a jack booted thug would pay someone to attend their speech.

    From the link:
    So what does this mean?
Were the employees paid to support a particular political message? Why didn't the article mention the name of the company paying people to attend a Trump rally?

The employees were paid to do PR for the company. That it also happened to be PR for Trump is beside the point.
