This might raise questions about impartiality, but there has to be evidence of that in Merchan's rulings and conduct as judge. I can't see an appeal succeed just due to a few small donations. As have been noted Merchan ruled in favor of Trump numerous times, and was extremely tolerant of Trump's many violations of the gag order, and tolerating antics by Trump's legal team. Is there anything the judge did that influenced the verdict of the jury? That will certainly be argued, but there has to be evidence of bias.
