Trump is accused of betraying the Kurds

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Trump did not "betray" the Kurds. This is a dishonest framing of the issue. At most, he "betrayed" the SDF, who certainly do not represent the Kurds. Could you imagine if every time the media referred to IS, they used the term "the Muslims" instead? So people need to stop using the word "Kurds" to refer to the SDF. Turkey is not fighting against the Kurds but against the SDF, a.k.a. the YPG. The liberals who have been criticizing Trump for wanting to pull out of Syria cannot seem to make up the minds. Whereas several years ago, it was common knowledge among any level-headed person that U.S. presence in the Middle East only fuels the spread of terrorism, now those same people who used to hold to this view are saying that pulling out would worsen the problem.
It's just another case of hypocrisy by the left.

The zone is/was a DMZ. There is no reason to have the fortification if not units are present. Turkey left the agreement first. Trump pulled troops out after Turkey announced it was launching it's military operation. More so the SDF agreed and even boosted about how "secure" the zone was. Now they, the Kurds, are contradicting themselves. In reality those fortification were going to be used to defend against Turkey. The SDF just does not want to admit it.
Just goes to show you there's always more to the story than what we are being told.

MSM isn't reporting on what a lot of the SDF leadership has said and done. Assad offered them protection 2 days before the Turks launched their operation. The deal was simple acknowledge Assad as the leader of Syria. The SDF opened talks for that deal when threatened by the Turks. It never made a move to open talks when it was just Assad with no Turkish threat. Now if the SDF was merely a militia that protects Syrians the deal wouldn't be an issue. However SDF refused. Ergo the SDF is a rebel group. Really the US was using the SDF to keep control of the oil in eastern Syria and to get rid of Assad. ISIS was a pretext for regime change. Now the doves flipped their tone and Gabbard called them out for it. Now MSM is calling her an Assad apologist as their corporate masters want a war there. The same masters behind GOP and Dem hawks. The rest are just showing symptoms of TDS. Trump did it so they must be against it.

When even many Republicans are angry with Trump's unilateral decision and have publicly criticized it, I think we can assume that there's a very serious problem at play here. But I guess it's OK with some even if it does makes Putin and ISIS very happy.

Speaking of making Putin and the Russians happy....

Russian Media Cheers Trump’s Moves in Syria: ‘Putin Won the Lottery!’

President Trump has boasted he’s “getting a lot of praise” for his abrupt decision to withdraw U.S. troops out of northern Syria, abandoning the Kurds—America’s longstanding allies—to Turkey’s incursion. On the home front, the controversial move has been met with criticism on both sides of the political aisle, but the reaction in Moscow was far from mixed. As Trump uncorked chaos in the Middle East, champagne tops were likely popping at the Kremlin.

“Putin won the lottery! Russia’s unexpected triumph in the Middle East,” raved Mikhail Rostovsky in his article for the Russian newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets. “Those who were convinced of Trump’s uselessness for Russia ought to think again...What Washington got out of this strange move is completely unclear. To the contrary, what Moscow gained from this is self-evident...Trump’s mistake in Syria is the unexpected ‘lottery win’ that further strengthened Moscow’s position in the Middle East and undermined America’s prestige as a rational political player and a reliable partner.”

Maksim Yusin, the editor of international politics at the leading Russian business daily Kommersant, was amazed by the ongoing stream of inexplicable actions by the American president that benefit the Kremlin. “All of this benefits the Russian Federation,” Yusin marveled. “You know, I’ve been watching Trump’s behavior lately and get seditious thoughts: maybe he really is a Russian agent? He is laboring so hard to strengthen the international image of Russia in general—and Putin in particular...In this situation, Americans—to their chagrin and our enjoyment—are the only losers in this situation.”

“This is such a pleasure,” grinned Olga Skabeeva, the host of Russia’s state television program 60 Minutes. “Russian soldiers have taken an American base under our complete control, without a fight!” Skabeeva’s co-host Evgeny Popov added: “Suddenly, we have defeated everyone.” Incredulously, Skabeeva pointed out: “This is an American base—and they just ran away! Trump ran away!”

There's much, much more at the link. I think N. Pelosi was fairly astute when she noted how when it comes to Trump "all things lead to Putin".

If you think nations in the ME are aligning with the US because US prestige not USD you are naive.

Sorry, no idea what that gibberish is supposed to mean or how it relates to the fact that Russia is positively thrilled with Trump's retreat.

Fixed. You didn't put much effort in as the keyword are "align with the US because US prestige and not USD you are naive."

Point being Egypt didn't flip to aligning with the US because of US prestige. It flipped due to the billions in aid. Half of US allies are only allies due to bribes called foreign aid. They are not traditional, cultural nor even ideological allies like the UK.

It is related it shuts down the spin from your article that money does not talk.

No idea how that relates to my post about Russia being ecstatic about Trump's retreat.

Read your article and look up what spin means in relation to media.

Look at realignment of the ME from neutral to Soviet then to the US. Look at the money trail. The US has a lot of money to throw around. Russia doesn't. If you think prestige is primary but not the billions in foreign aid you are naive. The US buys allies these days. If prestige mattered few nations would be allied with the US at all. Heck Sweden would be the center of a grand alliance if your article's silly premise was true.
