"President Donald Trump has a lot of power to make things happen in this country. He can move economic markets with a single tweet. He can destroy a Republican's political career on a whim (see "Flake, Jeff"

"Our Country has lost, stupidly, Trillions of Dollars with China over many years. They have stolen our Intellectual Property at a rate of Hundreds of Billions of Dollars a year, & they want to continue. I won't let that happen! We don't need China and, frankly, would be far better off without them. The vast amounts of money made and stolen by China from the United States, year after year, for decades, will and must STOP. Our great American companies are hereby ordered to immediately start looking for an alternative to China, including bringing our companies HOME and making your products in the USA. I will be responding to China's Tariffs this afternoon. This is a GREAT opportunity for the United States. Also, I am ordering all carriers, including Fed Ex, Amazon, UPS and the Post Office, to SEARCH FOR & REFUSE all deliveries of Fentanyl from China (or anywhere else!). Fentanyl kills 100,000 Americans a year. President Xi said this would stop - it didn't. Our Economy, because of our gains in the last 2 1/2 years, is MUCH larger than that of China. We will keep it that way!"
Donald Trump can't just 'hereby order' whatever he wants - CNNPolitics

If he got more products made in the USA rather than China as he wants, it would create a lot of jobs , strengthen the economy, strengthen America, and they would be better products.

Presidents like Obama would not have the courage to stand up to China. We have become dependent on and addicted to China, and need to wean ourselves off this unhealthy dependence.

Although Trump's actions could have severe consequences, he's demonstrating a boldness and strength that is good to see in a leader. The Chinese government is one of the most corrupt and rutheless governments I can think of. They cannot be trusted and are not someone we should be dependent upon.

China is less corrupt than America, overall. Being a billionaire in China doesn't stop you from being punished like it does in America.

Strength & boldness are neutral in value.
It all depends upon whether one pursues good or evil.

Also, as so patently clear these days, on who and how many are willing to give one wide enough a berth.

Enablers, including voters who ought to know better but apparently do not, exist.

Not all of us wanted a known corrupt hawkish crony capitalist.
But I do understand why you'd prefer that....er, her.

I meant, try to be dignified, or adult, or respectable or something, you know, positive, honorable, mature.

Or just try to make an argument that works. That would do for the moment.

Try taking your own advice before giving it to others.
You offered no thoughtful response to my post (#4)...just snark.

Remember to honor the rules here.
This is especially important since you're staff.
Be a good example, ie, no personal attacks.
Address the issues, & be interesting.

To each as it is deserved.

Why would I give you something that you neither want nor understand?

You repeatedly make clear your resentment of my having voted for Trump.
    Really, guy...move past that.
Keep it impersonal, ie, about the issues.

If persist you must, I can respond with analysis of your TDS & related faults.
I'd rather avoid that....but if called, then I shall serve.

The problem with tariffs is that they are just passed on to the consumer. Did you really think those companies are just going to take the hit? And wages aren't going up so people will have less money to buy things. So this will just result in people buying less and a slowdown in the economy. They'll just hit us with tariffs in return, hurting American businesses, too.
