It feels to me like he is trying to up the ante on division and outrage.

Trump calls for 'patriotic education,' says anti-racism teachings are 'child abuse'

“Speaking at what the White House describes as a "conference on American history," Trump said he plans to sign an executive order soon creating a "national commission to support patriotic education" called the 1776 commission and is directing funding to create a patriotic curriculum for schools.

"Our youth will be taught to love America with all of their heart and all of their souls," Trump said. The White House declined to say when Trump would sign the executive order.

Trump called the framing of history around race "toxic propaganda" and "a form of child abuse in the truest sense of those words" — specifically calling out critical race theory, a concept that was started around the idea that the law and legal institutions are inherently racist. He accused Democrats of pushing education that makes students "ashamed" of America’s history.”

American history is shameful. Our present is shameful, too. But of course he will come out against anti-racism as he is a racist who says neo-Nazis who murder people are "very fine people" while declaring anti-fascists as terrorists who want to destroy the country.

Trump is a sociopath. He'll assert whatever serves his twisted megalomania.

In other words, he's accusing Democrats of teaching real history, as opposed to the patriotic propaganda Trump's pushing.

    Basically, yes.
    It’s all about the narrative.

The sad truth is, there’s a huge and growing number of people whose informational nutrition is very poor. They live on info junk food, and do not have the habits and skills to effectively self-educate.
I suspect they are the core of Trump’s base.

How do you make history "patriotic" without embelishment or omission?

I would like to read more on what critical race theory is myself, I was thinking of getting the book 'white fragility' on my kindle at some point just to see what it's about. I myself have always been in multi-cultural or multi-racial environments, as a white, and have most likely spent more time interacting with non-whites than whites.. I've never had a problem with that. I'm just not really sure what is primary being argued for with CRT... Is it that the 'melting pot' theory is bad? Or that the formation and retention of different groups is bad? I do tend to believe in dunbar's number, which means humans usually will form smallish groups. However, it always seemed to me that the country was designed so that we'd eventually break down the barriers between groups, and thereby find cultural power in some kind of greater alloy. The problem that a left wing view (or right wing one) might hypothetically find with the former mode, however, is that it does eventually eliminate identity stratification and creates a new one that assimilates the others, and for most of history, humankind has been uncomfortable with that

Historic America as a human review. American Indians lived on the land.

Overseas immigration was sought to remove self from the patriarchal system of historic abuses relating to the elite. Historically. And the religious ideal was the stone mason. Non identified organization of status religious. Just a spiritual purpose and belief.

Then whatever went wrong in America itself involving British law, and slavery.

The basic true history of a group of males who agreed to try to live in the equality and rationale of land sharing in America was eventually sought. As far as the spiritual history, to think and theme spiritual is concerned with.

And not with propaganda nor irrational personal male leadership changes, being a historic circumstance for any population/country on planet Earth. Leadership defines the status for those to follow spiritual reunion and sense of self purpose. In a status that in governing would equate, right to voice opinion and argue, but argument was involved as a common denominator to arrive at the best choices for the humanity that you served.

Why "serving" in hierarchy belongs to the self and not to the population.

How it was once realised, what was believed in and taught and practiced by spiritual Presidents a long time ago. For that vision for a world community, to come and gather in America and learn and teach was spiritual union actually meant, without elitism or personal behaviour choices from coercive history.

As the historic American dream. To incur the re gain of the balances of the reference "life of the Mother". Which was Mother Earth/Mother Nature/Holy Mother human and Holy Mother to son inheritance, and teaching. Statue of Liberty.

What reasoning was involved in that circumstance historically and spiritually without demonstrative self destructive behaviour.

If a history of human abuses is advised by the conditions of past human standards both as a system that employed elite controls and also religious bias that ignores personal human equality and a rational united family life, was changed and identified to have begun in America historically. Then factually it was already implemented as a new way of life.

Seems like you have all actually forgotten that spiritual purpose of acting on a united front for the continuity of supporting a non abusive family existence for everyone. Adults and children, and male and female alike.

The idea that those peddling Critical Race Theory are concerned with 'real history' is about as true as saying Trump is concerned with real history.

For both, history is a tool used to support a contemporary ideology, not to provide a balanced and nuanced version of the past that is as accurate as possible.

Both are poisonous and should be opposed.

I wouldn't call it shameful, its definitely incomplete though.

You need to put in the good, bad, and the ugly to have a proper education on history.

Problem imo is people want to choose what history they like to hear and discard the bits they dont like.

Most countries have some shame in their past - the UK certainly has - and perhaps it would lessen the arrogance that so many seem to espouse as being natural if such was taught in schools. That is, a semblance of balance rather than the patriotic nonsense seen as fitting by so many.
