Trump 2024?

Eugene Debbs ran for President from Prison for the Socialist Party in 1920. So it might be possible.
That would be hilarious. Since the GOP wants to purge these dangerous lunatics from their ranks, they could just rebrand them as the Orange Suit Party, with Prisoner Trump as their candidate. Who knows, maybe Prisoner Gates could be his running mate as well. I wonder if you could move the Oval Office to a federal prison and run the country from there, between cell inspections? :)

Hopefully he'll be behind bars before then. I don't think inmates can run for president.

"[Eugene] Debs ran as a Socialist candidate for President of the United States five times, including 1900 (earning 0.6 percent of the popular vote), 1904 (3.0 percent), 1908 (2.8 percent), 1912 (6.0 percent), and 1920 (3.4 percent), the last time from a prison cell."

A national Emerson College poll released in September gave Trump a slim edge over Biden in a hypothetical 2024 matchup. Favored to win 47 percent to 46 percent, Trump's edge was within the poll's margin of error of 2.7 percentage points, which indicated that if the election were held today, it could go in either candidate's favor.
While Trump had low approval ratings throughout his presidency, it's possible voters are seeing him in a different light after he left office. His approval rating in Iowa is higher than it was during the entire course of his presidency, according to a Des Moines Register poll, and a Harvard CAPS-Harris poll in September found voters were drawn more to Trump than they were to Biden.

Could Donald Trump beat Joe Biden, Kamala Harris in 2024? What the polls show

Voter turnout will be key I suspect if Trump runs again.
Of course polls. Don't seem to be a good indicator of much.

It's possible that Trump would beat Biden or Harris in a re-election, but I doubt that Democrats would re-nominate either Biden or Harris in 2024. I'm not saying it's impossible, but... aren't there much better candidates?

Not to be just a wee bit cynical, but is there really a reason to think the 'best' candidate is the one who ends up on the ballot?

Funny, Republicans are trying everything they can to replace election officials all around the country if they don't openly say that the election was stolen.

Well, once the county election apparatus is being run by those who will lie for their god, no election result that denies their god IS GOD will be ratified. They'll find a way.

As I said, kiss your democracy goodbye, because right now, the Republican party is doing everything imaginable to dismantle it.

Yes, they really are.

The last two definitely were not. Obama was not the best. Bush was not the best. Clinton was not the best. Reagan was not the best. My entire life, with the exception of Biden, it's been not the best and smooth talking Dems.

Yep. January 6 was just a dress rehearsal for completely overthrowing democracy and free and fair elections in favor of a one party dictatorship system. Finding those who are willing to destroy democracy along with them is their aim. Sadly, if we collapse, the rest of the world seems in great peril for much of the same. Then we all go to hell in a handbasket.

And the funny thing is, it's the Christians who supported the Antichrist in Orange Face.

One would hope this but I feel it'd seem like bad form to not re-nominate the incumbent.
Unless maybe both Biden and Harris choose not to run.

And he lost when an incumbent has the best chance of winning. Won't happen. But I can surely encourage the herd to support him.

I remember the last time that liberals were uber-confident that Captain Orange would never win...

I don't put much stock in polls, especially polls like this where they're asking people's voting preferences three years before the election. A lot can happen between now and then.

Honestly, I was just bored and saw pop up in my news feed.

I don't think Trump will actually run. If he did I don't see him being nominated again.

It actually sounds like the Hillary Clinton speculations comparatively.

Probably not. Although, presumably people are trying to nominate their 'best' options.

Fair point. I think Biden said in March that he planned to run again in 2024.

We were confident he wouldn't win in 2020. I was confident he wouldn't win in 2016.
I voted for Hillary, the responsible choice.
The Russian influence campaign really did a number on conservatives and Bernie supporters in 2016. I didn't realize how easily tricked Americans could be.
To be fair, the election was very very close in 2016. Without those outside influences, he would have lost.
America would be in a much better place as well.

Weren't you saying Hillary was running in 2020? Yes you were. Based on no evidence outside of what your echo chamber told you.
But there is actually evidence of T**** running in 2024. Big difference.

Maybe, but my point was more than just theoretical. Most democratic systems are skewed towards candidates being almost compromise candidates from within different factional groups. In simple terms, Group A might want a progressive candidate because they think they're best. Group B might want a more conservative candidate for the same reason. And the candidate you end up with is a different person from what either of the groups wanted, simply because they were at least somewhat acceptable to both.

The reason he won't commit now is that, while he has not announced his PACs can do whatever they like with any money that comes in. This is why he is still stumping around the country making appearances. BUT, once he commits to running, by law, he has to account for the money coming into and going out of his PAC.

Well 2024 is still a bit ways off.
