To Christians only - what is hard about following Jesus?

In my life, carrying my cross to follow Him when I’d rather not have the cross (struggle) at all, if I’m being real. But that’s not the deal. To be a follower of Christ means I have to carry it AND follow Him. I’ve learned that He does the heavy lifting lol and helps me to see that.

It's hard to follow Jesus because it's not what comes naturally to us. It requires a love for others that we need to work to develop.
Not sure why, but your post makes me want to cry yet rejoice at the same time. Amen.

- Wanting an easy, comfortable life instead of a hard one carrying a cross.

- People misunderstanding you and putting you down for your faith.

- Being chaste.

- Loving and forgiving your enemies and those who have hurt and abused you.

- Forgiving myself.

That is one difficult question. And where in the world does one start.

As a pastor, probably the thing that I have to work the most at is guarding my heart from hurt and keeping the love flowing.

The United States defied God by attacking Babylon, Iraq. In Revelation, God said not to, or there will be dire consequences (for example: Revelation 15 (seven plagues, of which, COVID is one). Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism, and had nothing to do with the al Qaeda. US general, Franks, said that they are not in the business of counting casualties. So, the US doesn't have an accurate number for the casualties. Furthermore, President W. Bush was trying to hide torture camps, and facts (such as bombing civilian women and children) from the American people, so many of the casualty figures were lies. I think that it is fair to say that there were 1,000,000 Iraqis killed, and this angered the entire middle east, and that anger naturally swelled the ranks of the al Qaeda. The United States (CIA) gave the al Qaeda (calling themselves ISI or ISIS at the time) a huge fleet of brand new Toyota pickups, weapons, and training, thinking that they were merely trying to liberated Syria (as the "S" in ISIS implies). Following God and following Christ meant turning the other cheek and "thou shalt not kill." It was so easy to lose faith in God and Christ because of the 911 attack. The US had been attacked by a brainwashed faction of Islam which took their Koran literally about killing non-Islamic and getting 72 virgins in heaven if they strap bombs to their young sons and send them into Israeli pizza parlors to blow themselves up and kill Jews. As far as the US knew, no war had been declared, and it was a heinous sneak attack by those who don't value life. Should we leave it to God to fight back, or maybe God's way is not to fight back at all? Maybe doing nothing would have given the al Qaeda time to think about their attack on a peaceful people and change their minds. By attacking Babylon, Iraq, the US confirmed all that the al Qaeda was saying about evil and viciousness of the US (though it was in response to their attacks). As you can see, following Christ is not very easy at all during hard times. Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. said that it is easy to do the right things during good times, but during bad times, you see a lot of people doing bad things. By analyzing God's messages to humans (thou shalt not kill), etc., we can see how difficult it is to follow God's plan, and we can see how the US fouled up in a big way.

Each and every simple rule of Christ is a complex issue. The issue of homelessness is about socialism and letting a large segment of society get free money, food, and medicine from the few working middle class (which doesn't seem fair at all to those who have to pay for it). Hence, there are vast hoards of homeless very close to the churches which vow to follow the teachings of Christ (feeding the poor, giving Obamacare Universal health care that takes care of everyone's medical needs, and getting them jobs).

Socialism isn't Communism (dictatorship, like China, Russia, and other nations that the US woos). Socialism is about all of society paying for the things that society needs. For example, wars are paid for by everyone, so they are funded by Socialism. Another example, roads are paid by government taxes, so roads are funded by Socialism. Republicans gripe about healing the sick (as Christ did), because they claim that the money of all of the people (except the rich who have loopholes and don't pay any taxes) pays for the illnesses of the homeless, and that is just one example of Socialism. It is very hard to follow the teachings of Christ when you have to fight labels (such as "Socialism).
