time of the end

We are now in the time of the end.

While he was sitting upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached him privately, saying: "Tell us, When will these things be, and what will be the sign of your presence and of the conclusion of the system of things?"

And in answer Jesus said to them: "Look out that nobody misleads YOU; for many will come on the basis of my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. YOU are going to hear of wars and reports of wars; see that YOU are not terrified. For these things must take place, but the end is not yet.

"For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress.

"Then people will deliver YOU up to tribulation and will kill YOU, and YOU will be objects of hatred by all the nations on account of my name. Then, also, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. And many false prophets will arise and mislead many; and because of the increasing of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off. But he that has endured to the end is the one that will be saved. And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come(matthew 24;3-14)

But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away(2 timothy 3;1-5)

Moreover, just as it occurred in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of man: they were eating, they were drinking, men were marrying, women were being given in marriage, until that day when Noah entered into the ark, and the flood arrived and destroyed them all. Likewise, just as it occurred in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building. But on the day that Lot came out of Sod´om it rained fire and sulphur from heaven and destroyed them all. The same way it will be on that day when the Son of man is to be revealed(luke 17;26-30)

Actually, I find the whole, wars and rumors of war, famine, false prophets and anti-christs to be very misleading, since there has always been war, famine, false prophets and anti-christs.

The world has pretty much always been like this. Much of the worlds history has revolved around men who have had some form of greed and narcicism. Christians have been killed since the days of ancient Rome.

How can we be sure this has not already happened. Where did the Mayans go? Were they taken up in rapture? That would leave us in the time of tribulation. And that would mean we are in fact living though Armageddon right now. Did you see the war on Bagdad? Was that not fire raining from the sky? And how about the tsunami? Weren't 100's of 1000's of people gone in the blink of an eye?

We should not be focused on the past or the future, but the NOW. wHAT IF WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE WAR BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL RIGHT NOW?
Are you on the side of love or hate?

The Bible uses the expression "last days" to refer to the concluding time period leading up to a divinely appointed execution that marks the end of a system of things. The Jewish system with its worship built around the temple in Jerusalem experienced its last days from 33 to 70 C.E. What occurred then was pictorial of what would be experienced in a greatly intensified way and on a global scale at a time when all nations would be facing the execution of judgment decreed by God. The present wicked system of things, which extends worldwide, entered its last days in 1914 when jesus was crowned king of Gods heavenly kingdom .

The Bible describes events and conditions that mark this significant time period. "The sign" is a composite one made up of many evidences; thus its fulfillment requires that all aspects of the sign be clearly in evidence at the same time ,and also since jesus was made king in the heavenly kingdom. The various aspects of the sign are recorded at Matthew chapters 24, 25, Mark 13, and Luke 21; there are further details at 2 Timothy 3:1-5, 2 Peter 3:3, 4, and Revelation 6:1-8.
War has marred life on the earth for thousands of years. International wars and wars within nations have been fought. But beginning in 1914 the first world war was fought. This was not merely a conflict between two armies on the battlefield. For the first time, all the major powers were at war. Entire nations—including civilian populations—were mobilized to support the war effort. It is estimated that by the end of the war 93 percent of the population of the world was involved" Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom" (Matt. 24:7)As foretold at Revelation 6:4, ‘peace was taken away from the earth.’ Thus the world has continued to be in a state of upheaval ever since 1914. World War II was fought from 1939 to 1945. According to retired Admiral Gene La Rocque, as of 1982 there had been another 270 wars since 1945. Upwards of 100 million persons have been slaughtered in warfare during this century. Also, according to the 1982 edition of World Military and Social Expenditures, there were in that year 100 million people engaged directly or indirectly in military activities. Is more required in order to fulfill this aspect of the prophecy? There are tens of thousands of nuclear weapons deployed for immediate use. Leading scientists have said that if the nations were to use even a fraction of their nuclear arsenals, civilization and possibly the entire human species would be destroyed. But that is not the outcome to which Bible prophecy points

War has marred life on the earth for thousands of years.
The Ancient Romans were constantly at war. War has been around since the dawn of civilization.

International wars and wars within nations have been fought.
Most wars are internation, and many countries have experiecned a civil war.

Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom" (Matt. 24:7)As foretold at Revelation 6:4, ‘peace was taken away from the earth.’ Thus the world has continued to be in a state of upheaval ever since 1914.
Again, there has always been war. Even in the days when there were a few scattered Mesopotamian villages, there has been war. Some historians even credit the Assyrians as being the original terrorist.

Also, according to the 1982 edition of World Military and Social Expenditures, there were in that year 100 million people engaged directly or indirectly in military activities. Is more required in order to fulfill this aspect of the prophecy?
Alexander The Great conquered much of the known during his time. He also brought the Greek religion and language to the lands he conquered. Not only would this have put most people directly and indirectly involved in his conquest, it also brought the world under one religion and language, allthough they werent the official ones.

There are tens of thousands of nuclear weapons deployed for immediate use.
But what Nation would have a ruler dumb enough to use them? If a nation were to launch a nuclear weapon, that nation, plus it allies, would declare a nuclear warfare and litterally blow the attacking nation of the face of the earth. Allthough nuclear warfare is possible, it is only a madmans option.

Leading scientists have said that if the nations were to use even a fraction of their nuclear arsenals, civilization and possibly the entire human species would be destroyed.
Actually, during the Cold War, United States and Russia alone had more than enough nuclear weapons to destroy everything on the planet. And that was about 30 years ago. The amount of existing nuclear weapons accounted for has increased several fold since then.

yes as you say there have always been wars but the sign is a composite sign and all of the signs that jesus left us have to be happening altogeather at the same time on a global scale . in amongst a certain generation of people ,who have certain attidudes spoken of in 2 timothy 3 it is only since 1914 when jesus was made king of Gods kingdom in the heavens that this has been happening on a global scale

"There
will be food shortages . . . in one place after another" (Matt. 24:7)

There have been many famines in human history. To what extent has the 20th century been afflicted by them? World war led to widespread starvation in Europe and Asia. Africa has been stricken by drought, resulting in extensive food shortages. Late in 1980 the Food and Agriculture Organization estimated that 450 million people were hungry to the point of starvation, and up to a billion did not have enough to eat. Of these, some 40 million a year actually die—in some years as many as 50 million—because of the shortage of food.

Is anything different about these food shortages? Revelation 6:6 indicated that a small quantity of such staples as wheat or barley would be selling for a day’s wage (a denarius; see Matthew 20:2) but that supplies of such items as olive oil and wine used by people who are well-to-do would not be harmed. So apparently many would suffer shortage while others could still get what they wanted. This situation is no longer local, but global. In 1981 The New York Times reported: "The improvement in living standards and the growing demand for food around the world have put pressure on food prices, making it harder for the poorest countries to import their food needs." In many lands the production of food, even with the aid of modern science, has not been able to keep pace with the increase in total population. Modern food experts see no real solution to the problem

Bah, the New York Times. Like I trust anything they report. They always blame "overpopulation" for everything when the fact is that there are a lot of other reasons for food shortages that they just don't want to get into. Like the fact that we have plenty to send them, but we don't do it cause we're greedy you-know-whats and we don't want to spend the money.

There are a lot of things pointing to the end times, but those things are just the beginning of the "birth pangs". Trust me, things will get worse.

According the the Mayan calander, the end date is Dec. 21, 2012. This isn't the end of the world, but the end of the world as we know it. But before this can happen, many horrible things will happen, such as WW3, which will be started by America. Also, I think its supposed to be within this year, I was told by a Shaman, who was told by the guy who invented the Klini Sound Wave Chair, that a volcano is supposed to erupt around africe, and cause a tsunami that will hit the American East coast. He also said that the computer chip that goes in your hand, will be required within the next five years. Not as a loyalty mark, such as the mark of the beast, but as government controll.
So even though I don't believe the christian end of times, I do agree with johnny that things will get much worse. I have even seen visions of things getting worse, and it is frightening to think about these visions.

so regardless of the reasons why these things are happening on the earth , the fact is they are happening just as jesus said they would be .

"There will be great earthquakes" (Luke 21:11) when a great earthquake happens it does bring distress(matthew 24;8)

Distress is measured, not by the number of earthquakes or how they rate on the Richter scale, but by the effect that they have upon people.
