Morally I have no objections to a threesome (and I'm sure it's a damn good time!), but I don't think that in the long term it can ever work out. I think that each person involved will always have a stronger emotional attachement to on of the other people than the third party. Maybe it can work for some people but I don't think it ever would for me. Then again maybe I'm just jealous...;)

But what if the relationship was 2 men and 1 woman? Would it be different?

Why would there be there any difference between the two combinations? I thought we were talking threesomes in general. I didn't realize there were distinctions.

The OP used the distinction of 2 women, one man. Most men think of a 3some as 2 women, one man..

I think of a threesome as any three people, regardless of gender. Shoot, it can be 3 women or 3 men. I see 2 men and 1 woman and no different than 2 women and 1 man. The reason "most men" think of it as 2 women and 1 man is probably because their warped little sexual minds fantasize about having 2 women fullfill their every desire  . And the reason the OP mentioned 2 women and 1 man was that just happened to be the factors of the relationship that sparked the discussion.

I ain't going to argue with that! My wife thinks along the same line as you. Interesting though, when 3some pops up, how men and women think of it differently.

If it's between consenting adults, I don't see a problem with it (whether it be for love or just sex). It's certainly not my thing, though. I was in a situation where I could have participated in a threesome, and I didn't. It's far too emotionally complicated for my taste (since I no longer have sex just for the sake of sex)...and I am a slightly jealous being. I don't want to share. :p

I morally think it is wrong to have sex without love in your heart, which is why marriage is needed to confirm that love (to me marriage isnt a ceremony, but a man and woman cmmiting themselves to one another in relationship of live and respect, though a ritual is optional). Also, I see nothing wrong with Polyamorous relationships as long as (saying here the male is only one of his kind and has 2 female wives) the women concider themselves close to one another as sisters but towards their husband as wives.

Do you feel the same way if it is one woman and 2 men? If not, then what is the difference?

It's very easy to say "God said so", but could you point out where, when, and to whom God was speaking when he said so? Was it to you, or to someone else, for instance?

Draka is right. I didn't mean to limit the discussion to the mix of sexes in the threesome in the OP. The question is, whatever mix of sexes for the threesome, are threesomes moral? Or are some mixes immoral and others moral?

I have no moral problem with 2 or more consenting adults engaging in whatever sexual recreational activities they choose, be it for love or for purely pleasure.

However, I know this is not for me.

It was not so long ago that I thought that I could and that for me having sex purely for the sake of pleasure was OK. Well, maybe it's because I'm getting old, but I don't feel that way anymore. If someone else wants to have sex just to have sex be it with one person or 12, I'm not going to tell them it's wrong (unless I believe they may be physically hurt, but that's another issue). But for me, I've come to realize that sex is so much more than just pleasure. It is a powerful, intimate connection with another human being that makes us very vulnerable. And there's only one person I trust with something as powerful and intimate as that.

Sex with anyone(s) other than the person I'm in love with would just be empty sex and I don't have time for empty sex.

I see threesomes more as amoral (as long as all parties involved are consenting). The only time I could see a threesome as immoral is if a party was somehow forced to participate (but that would make the act rape).

If any member(s) of the party do not consent, but are forced to participate, then I consider it immoral, as it would be an act of rape.

    I could say that, couldn't I...

Let's see... God made one Adam and one Eve...
Jacob 2:27 says not any man... have save it be one wife
Official Declaration One ended plural marriages.
    &c.
Therefore, no man shall marry more than one woman, and no woman shall marry more than one man.

As to sleeping with people outside of marriage...
A man shall cleave unto his wife (not unto other women).
Articles of Faith says we believe in being chaste.
Fornicators will not inheret the kingdom of God.
To avoid fornication, every man should have his own wife.
    &c.

As to who God was speaking, he was speaking to everyone.

Was Solomon wise to have 600 wives and 300 concubines?

Didn't Abraham have more than 1 wife? I thought he was one of God's favorites.

And Mike wasn't married to either woman, so really he didn't have more than 1 wife. He had 2 girlfriends whom he wasn't cheating on. Cheating is immoral.

In other words, you're insisting that it's completely arbitrary even though there are perfectly good reasons for avoiding polygamous relations. This is too important to obscure with the blathering of an infantile and self-centered god. I've been swinging in extremely liberal circles for years; they'll tell you from their own experiences that polygamous relationships usually don't work, and the ones that do are still riddled with complications.

I'm not just blowing smoke at you for amusement, either; this is important. This is not something you want to make sound like some casual pleasure you put off during Lent. Having your heart broken two different ways isn't fun, no matter what your beliefs are.

Nope. He was unwise. That's what brought the kingdom down.

    Indeed. You're sharp.

It's a "casual pleasure" we put off for our entire lives. :areyoucra

Regardless, THAT'S not the reason I would ever be involved in a threesome. The one reason is because it is against God's law. That's right. The ONLY reason.
