No. The two words are entirely different in Hebrew. Shaul is a transliteration of my Hebrew name. It is often translated as Saul. But the Hebrew consonant is a “sh”, so Shaul is the better translation. It is also the name on the first king on Israel and that guy from Tarsus that changed his name to Paul.
