Things Look Good for Biden

We're still three months away from election day, so the situation could change.

However, the polls consistently show Biden with a lead over Trump that can't be ignored. This is the case nationally as well as in the swing states that won the election for Trump in 2016.

RealClearPolitics - Election 2020 - General Election: Trump vs. Biden

Current Polling Averages:

National: Biden +7.4
Florida: Biden +6.2
Wisconsin: Biden +5.0
Michigan: Biden +7.8
Pennsylvania: Biden +6.0
North Carolina: Biden +4.7

What would have to happen for the polls to shift substantially enough for Trump to pull out a win?
A Covid cure and economic rebound. A harshly serious controversy surrounding Biden. Or Biden could sink to Trump's level in regards to crude and unacceptable behaviors.

So, Biden's pretty much in the clear on that telling of the story, LOL.

I wouldn't be so certain. In Indiana, during the Tea Party height, Republican Senator hopeful Richard Murdock lost a very sure and certain election at the last minute when he said if a woman is raped and becomes pregnant its an act of god and is a beautiful thing. That sank his campaign like a rock.

If so, it's the most underwhelming Exodus in history.

To use a different image, how many are like Lot, the righteous, who offered two virgin daughters up to the crowd and how many like Lot's wife who we honor unto this day every time we pick up the salt shaker? :p:eek:

Electoral College.
Clinton won the popular vote by over 3 million votes.
The Electoral College existed at the beginning of the presidential race. She and all the other Democrats knew that.

The USA is not a democracy. The White House is occupied by whoever state legislatures decide to vote for. That happened to be someone other than the USA voter's choice for President.

Something else that's noticable. The Republicans haven't nominated a candidate in decades that was elected by the people to office. Bush II got elected after he started a batch of wars, but other than that the USA electorate hasn't voted in a Republican presidential candidate since the 80s.

"You can fool some of the people all of the time.
You can fool all of the people some of the time.
But you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

The Republicans appear to have given up on trying to produce a political platform that the USA electorate will go for and are reduced to gaming the system to stay in power.

What happened in 2016 that resulted in Clinton, with a gigantic lead, to lose the White House?
Something did, obviously.
She didn't have a gigantic lead at any point. And near the election the lead was within margins.
Comey announcement a week prior to the election made a difference.

Is this why in polls that ask “Who do you think will win?” President Trump is favored? Or why the gambling odds makers favor President Trump winning?

See 538: Voters Are Starting To Doubt Trump's Reelection Chances

And keep in mind that we're talking about an election where the incumbent regime can be expected to engage in an unprecedented campaign of voter suppression.

Or why the gambling odds makers favor President Trump winning?

Once again, @Shaul, you seem intent on embarrassing yourself.

Along with bigoted characterizations such as "Chinese Flu". BTW, does that remind you of anything?
Did you complain about "bigoted" names of diseases named after places....
Ebola Virus
Marburg Virus
Lyme Disease
Spanish Flu
West Nile Virus
Guinea Worm
Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)
Zika Fever
Japanese Encephalitis
Lassa Fever

Selective outrage, eh.
I favor "Wu Han Virus".
It fits with tradition which y'all found acceptable before.
We shouldn't worry about China being offended.
Especially after they accused Ameristan of introducing it there.

Your point is a good one and deserves an honest response.

To begin with, the answer is "NO," and I think this is to be explained by a combination of the following:
  • Many (but not all) of the above refer to a region rather than a people.
  • None, to the best of my knowledge, are terms emphasized by a political leader to fan nativism and demonize a political adversary,
  • I am hopefully more sensitive to terms such as "Spanish Flue" and the backlash such labels can unleash, particularly in this political environment and particularly when the backlash is an intended result.

I say the history of Trump's label is significant.
They blamed Ameristan.
Demonization for political gain, eh.
His retaliation was in kind, & thus appropriate.
I'm not saying it was wise, but the leftish negative reaction to it seems feigned.

Appropriate?

:rage: But mommy, Johny did it to me first! :rage:

Seriously?
Your quote in bold is exactly the spirit of "appropriate"
I intended. Note: I just said, "I'm not saying it was wise".

Criticizing Trump over this insult is bad....wrongful.
It distracts from valid criticism, eg, he commenced a war
against Iran, only calling it off just before it was to begin.
And you're concerned with the "Chinese Virus"?
Face palm-worthy.
If Trump has any chance of winning re-election, it's
by ignoring his serious failures that will do the job.
Focus upon what matters.
