Thich Quang Duc's Heart

The Sum of Awe

Brought to you by the moment that spacetime began.
Even after re-cremation, the heart did not burn (at least, supposedly). Is this true? By the looks of it, it is, but then again I only read 3 sites that said so.

If it is true, what is the scientific explanation behind it?

The human heart is about the size of one's fist.

Assuming Thich Quang Duc was about the size of the guy holding the charred heart here---in other photos he appears to be of average size---it's clear the heart underwent considerable burning. Claims that it remained intact and did not burn are simply untrue.

But why did it not turn to ash (or did it?)
