I'm sure you've all heard about the yellow vests. They started protesting in October or November. Every Saturday afternoon they block the city centers with their manifestations.
At first most of us were just like "ok, we'll have to adjust to this for a while and then they'll stop and life will go back to normal". That's not what's happening. It's been months and it doesn't seem like they're willing to stop anytime soon. Every Saturday they get together with their buddies to do their thing. Some people go to a football match, others go to their church, the yellow vests demonstrate and leave a trail of destruction that someone else will clean the next day. Public transportation isn't available in the city centers, lots of shops are closed or open without clients, thousands of police officers are mobilized to control the crowds and at this point, nobody know what the demonstrations are about, other than ruining small businesses and annoying the living days out of us.
I haven't been out a Saturday night since this thing started. Ok, there are other nights in the week, but Saturday is Saturday. The yellow vests are ruining my social life!
There, that's my little rant. I feel better now.

Perhaps you should ask one of them what it's about. Or perhaps you should ask yourself why the media has not reported on what it's about, already. Either way, if your fellow citizens are moved to actually DO SOMETHING instead of sitting on their butts in the pub, complaining, I would think you'd want to know what's motivating them.

I saw a documentary. They said they were protesting the financial situation in their country: mainly prices and rent. They claimed many people couldn't afford to live or very nearly and were worried about being kicked out on the street either immediately or in retirement. All of it had to do with some government policies.

I should be careful to ask since i do not have a social lifestyle like the one you describe, But what is so important about going out on the city that often, that a few saturdays can make you angry/frustrated? Does the social life means that much?

There are many ways people can express their opinions. Destroying public and private property for 21 weeks in a row is not the best one.

I can adapt but it annoys me and many other people that this has been going on for so long. For example, last week I went to visit my uncle in the hospital and on the way there it was ok, but on the way back I had to walk a few miles to get home. The same goes for people who have trouble walking, parents with small children, etc. That's just an example, but there are many more.
You have no idea how many small businesses had to close because of the sales they're missing. Big brands are hanging on because they have other shops that compensate, but smaller businesses can't survive. Even restaurants have lost a crazy amount of customers. People stay home or order in because no one wants to be caught in that mess.
I mentioned my social life half joking, but it goes much further than that.

I understand the situation are difficult. I might have removed my self to much away from society to actually react to those things you describe.

This is the point. They need to do this. If everything stayed the same and citizens were allowed to go about their lives with normality, it wouldn't work. They want change and that means disruption, since the government won't listen. Higher wages, lower rents, decent living standards won't come on a plate.

It always amazes me with things like this, is that they disrupt the lives of those who have nothing to do with the situation.

    What Would Saint Macron Do?

If we remember a short time ago the yellow vests were blamed on Russia instead of the French governments failings, now Macron blames Marine le Pen. What else did France expect from the mealy mouthed globalist bankster clown Macron?

That’s fair. But what of the living wages of the small businesses this is alleged to negatively affect?
Ironically making it harder for those citizens to have decent living standards.

Though it sounds like the protest will continue to fall on deaf ears, since the Government seems happy to just clean up the mess and ignore the situation. At least that’s what I gather from the OP.

Agreed. The property destruction is uncalled for.

When the demonstrations first started I became interested in the situation there. As they've continued, I've decided basically to ignore them which I can do living in California. But from what I can see, they're managing to turn people off over there as well. And that is because they seem to be just venting rage no matter who or what they harm.

It's just a small piece of the big picture.....all nations are in turmoil, just as the Bible warned us. We are seeing the breakdown of human rulership. Democracy is turning on itself. It's weakness is undermining it's strength, just as Daniel said about the feet of iron and clay. They don't mix. It's just another form of human government that has failed.

What next? The Bible tells us. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

They remind me of the geniuses who thought it was smart to block freeways in California as a protest. They basically alienated themselves from all the hardworking people trying to get home from work. :D People don't forget stuff like that easily either.

-Less than 1/3 of colonists supported the American revolution

Remember the language being used in western media to describe the western backed protestors in Venezuela. I believe they were typically called activists to be supported while at the same time the yellow vests were called rioters to be condemned.

No. It's not. But it seems to be traditional....and it's the folks demanding that the government
DO something about their situation that do the most damage. Operation Wall Street, anybody?

The folks around here are still cleaning up after them.
