So......see yourself as a poor farmer
no horse....no plow......only the hoe in your hand
and the hope ....the seeds you have will feed you

then some damn fool! ...comes riding through your work .....at full gallop
the furrows are spoiled and the seed scattered

you take a deep breath......and undo the damage
    replant the seed

then the same damn fool!.....comes riding through your work.....AGAIN!
going back the way he came

and what can you do?.......you curse the day he was born
    and replant the seed

THEN!......that same damn fool comes charging back!
and you are willing at this point to stand in his path!
let him gallop right over you!

but he breaks his speed and dismounts......approaches you to say
My Lord would have you attend His Feast

no apologies for the damage done
    no explanation for the invitation
    only the requirement......COME NOW!
    this very moment

so.......you mount the horse behind the Rider
    and off you go

and as you were told .....there is a feast
and it's the greatest thing as ever you did see

you are seated....and you just go for it
you've never had food like this

and then Some Guy comes around.....and you see Him coming
    looking around
    and He doesn't seem happy

    He spots.....YOU.....
and upon approach wants to know.....WHY? are you not properly dressed

you look about you .....no one is dressed any better
    ALL who are seated......are common
in face and manner of dress

    you have no response

the servants are called.....and you are seized upon.....bound hand and foot
    and thrown out the Door

to suffer under whatever finds you helpless

    ok fine.....a little humor

but the parable of script tells of a.....weeping
    and gnashing of teeth

would that be the poor quest?......gnashing his teeth
    or something in the Darkness?

    or both?

Let us suppose that this parable is about you and I, but I think its originally about whether circumcised Christians should fellowship with uncircumcised. To me it parallels Jesus other harsh sounding parable about the servant who fears to invest his talent. I think the point of both parables is that the Christian Jew should allow the uncircumcised into the church without fear. The two parables both are about this very difficult decision for a Christian. The parable you mention says they should come to the feast prepared or be cast out, and that means they must respect the other guests. The parable of the talents means they must invest themselves or have no increase. For you and I, this is no longer a current question; but how silly it would seem to those past Christians if they heard about our strange divisions over much more petty concerns.

    NAY!

the servants were sent to gather the acquaintance of the Lord.....first
    they declined
and a very angry Lord sent His servants out again.....to gather ANYONE to the table
the meat and bread would soon spoil

    COME NOW!

Theme of Matthew: Welcome all, and let God sort them out.

[Mat 22:11,13,14 NIV] 11 "But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. ... 12 He asked, 'How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?' The man was speechless. ... 14 "For many are invited, but few are chosen.""

    ok.....but I do suspect.....

ALL that came were chosen at random......on sight

I further suspect.....God does not judge by sight.....on sight
    unless of course
    you do

Me?! I have a mental problem that causes me to judge others and cannot help it, so I am blameless.

You should go after the people who are judgy on purpose. They deserve to be punished, not me.

It's interesting to me that the poor farmer in the story doesn't have a family. There's no concern for spouse or children.

I considered that as I created this thread

    but when YOU are called......

and it is written.....do not go back for your cloak
    do not look back

they who look back are not worthy to serve

something to the effect, "My apologies, Lord. I was working in my field and had not heard that the repeated disruption of my work had been necessitated by your deciding to invite others to your feast...and that when your intended attendees failed to respond to your wonderful invitation, that I (and apparently all the other attendees) were summoned (I shan't call it 'invited" because it most assuredly wasn't an invitation) by your servant to attend IMMEDIATELY, without opportunity for me to return to my hovel where inspection would find that I have no clothing appropriate to such a fine feast as yours, because I am a poor peasant, with not the resources to prepare or attend such an extravagant function as your feast, but since the consideration of a few moments to freshen up was not extended, I came as I was, so I am sure you will forgive my appearance...And while I do appreciate being asked to serve to fill up your guest list for those who failed to show up, the abundant ham and there was turkey and there was caviar, and long tall glasses with wine up to yar, you should understand that if you wanted me to attend, you should have invited me from the beginning...at least to tell me that I might be expected to dance like Freddie Austerlitz before I can eat..."

And would continue on from there, discussing the unmitigated gall of the Lord who does not have to struggle each day just to survive and does not seem to understand or accommodate the needs of his invited, or in this case, diverted, guests...REALLY, Lord, you expect a peasant farmer to work dressed and ready to attend a feast that was organized for others and to which we were NOT INVITED, and now our attendance must be IMPOSED on the current audience...and you have the unmitigated gall to complain that your guests aren't quite perfect? Really????
