I have watched a lot of live streams, done by regular people that participate in the movement.

Every article that I have read about the movement(s), has been incredibly flawed. When you try to bundle; 100 different people, with 100 different views that may agree on a small handful of topics into one singular group, and give them one singular label, you can't expect accuracies.

It doesn't surprise me. All movements are made to look bad, but of course the one that challenges those in power instead of working for them is the one to be made to look very bad.

The article makes this "movement" sound like it is actually something worthy of our attention.

The movement is amateurish, since most people do not know anything about economics or political economy, but it is a step in the right direction. Maybe they can succeed in pulling the Democratic Party towards the centre.

When the rich get richer, get tax breaks and still ship jobs overseas, are corrupt and greedy, and people don't have jobs, are getting poorer and poorer, food and all going up, what do you expect? People are gonna push back, they should pay attention. I'm no socialist, but come on.

Not that I disagree. Theres definitely corporate greed around no doubt but it also seems that industry is unreasonably becoming ever more over-regulated, constrained, and driven out of the country by our own goverment as well. I think there is a need as well for compromises in order to attract lost business back into this country. Were quickly becoming more and more a service sector nation with little or no manufactering going on, and from what I understand is a recipe for disaster.

I totally agree, over-regulation by the gov is part of why we're losing manufacturing. The gov not being able to work together and take the good and bad from both sides of the isle is also a big prob. We absolutely need more manufacturing. I work in a factory building lawn-tractors (riding mowers :))and it provides jobs for average joe's like me as well as techies and all the rest, not to mention the insurance and 401k and other benefits and decent pay. Everyone one needs that! I am very blessed and thankful. I just hope we get our act together before it gets much worse.

I think it's no longer useful to distinguish between the corporate media and agents of the state. Actually, it never is when it comes to this type of thing. When protesters were during in to shut down clear cutting in BC's old growth forest, the headlines blared " Will Greenpeace destroy British Columbia?!?!?" When native sovereigntists gathered around the Sundance grounds to raise awareness of land claims issues, the papers bleated "Terrorists threaten RCMP at Gustafsen Lake!!!!!"

The media moguls, the government officials and the high ranking public servants all have interests in common, and democracy is not one of them. Its the smear campaign influencing the government? I say probably not. Usually the smears happen contemporaneously with the oppression of free speech and assembly. They're part of the same campaign, and the target audience is us.

That's a pretty broad statement. What makes you think this? There are tens of thousands of people involved in these assemblies, from all walks of life. A retired police captain and a Supreme Court judge were arrested in New York.

Smears work pretty good I guess.

How is it a "smear campaign"?

From what I have seen, it appears that the article is trying to cover up the fact that the protesters are gathering in large groups waiting for the police to screw up and telling flat out lies as to why people were arrested.

it is hard to take any "movement" seriously when they rely on such cowardly dishonest actions to gain media attention.

Javajo, I think you have that the wrong way around. The reason there is no manufacturing in the US is that people in China will work for a dollar a day. The reason US companies can operate there is DE-regulation, not over-regulation. Until American workers are cheaper than Chinese workers, or until some trade barriers are established that make it costly and difficult for American companies to leave the country, manufacturing will not come back no matter how much or how little industry is regulated in the US
