can evil only exist where apathy and/or the lack of information exist?

IMO, evil exists wherever fear and greed exist. Of course, knowledge and activism can combat evil but not eliminate it. The only way to eliminate evil is to eliminate fear and greed.

It'd be hard to make the case for lack of information. Something about Putin's intelligence, cunningness, and yet not too pretty smile.
a person knows they have a communicable disease, or information that would help someone in need and doesn't provide that to another, is good? or apathy knowing that a child is being abused/raped and doing nothing is ok? having information that someone is harming another without their knowledge and not giving them that information is OK?

Evil, in the secular sense, can exist wherever humans exist because it is part of our collective make-up.

It's not caused by 'error' but by part of our nature. We just like to believe in the comforting myth that the good things are 'human' and the bad things are 'inhuman'.

When money or power is involved evil exists in everything, not just apathy or lack of information
yes but again the lack of information, or even the withholding of information is a way to control/manipulate people. evil is about service to self vs other as self

The control of information is something the elite always does, particularly in a despotic form of government. Information, knowledge, is power. If you can control information, you can control people.

yes, but it has to have a host; which will transmit it
yes. and we don't kill the host. we kill the virus. so, we love people and we don't love the evil actions. we do not attack people. :) in my opinion.
