Just that Harris was chosen is not a good sign.
Her selection had zero to do with being best
qualifird for ANYTHING but checking enough pc boxes.

Considering the chaotic & fickle nature of our presidential
primary process, the method for selecting her looks no worse.
I'm not a Harris fan, but she's a largely unknown quantity.
We'll see what happens when she takes over from Biden.

If big time gun control forces everyone to actually have training and ensure people can actually operate and store their guns correctly, then why not? Isn't that simply better for everyone even for those that don't own guns?

Or what does "big time gun control" mean to you?

I read from a post that you are from HK. What training are you required to do before being able to own and operate? Are there periodic exams or tests?

I'm taking a wait & see position, but with that let me just say that it'll be a pleasure seeing Trump leaving the White House.

Now let's see how many other atrocities Trump will perform until 1-20-21 as he already has two: 1.pardoning Flynn and 2.ending our participation of the Open-Skies Treaty, the latter of which is a great Christmas gift to his BFF Vladimir.

Frankly, if Biden did absolutely nothing, I would still consider it a dramatic improvement and a relief.

By analogy, even zero is much greater than a large, negative number.

Having said that, sure, those of us who voted for him should hold him accountable for his promises.

Checking PC boxes clearly factored in. But she is eminently qualified to be VP or even President. She was a Democratic front runner and she appeals to a large Democratic voter base ... it’s not fair to say her selection had “zero” to do with being best qualified. VP picks are always done on the basis of (a) being qualified and (b) appealing to a segment of the voter base. If she appeals to the black female voting base it’s “PC” but if Pence appeals to white evangelicals, does that get a derisive name, too?

This is common practice in politics, we vote for people we think represent us. Americans think white men don’t always represent them. We are a representative democracy. The same voters who voted for Kamala partly because she is black and therefore relates to those voters, also voted for a white man to be President. Picking her as VP was about being more inclusive of highly qualified people (in this case women of color) and reaching Americans who relate to that. It was not about excluding white men. More inclusion, not less. This is healthy.

" zero" is oversimplified, sure. And I think she's a smart cookie.

Only saying that limiting the pool of candidates to a certain narrowly proscribed sector is not how to get the best.

It's not my country, just observing.

HK, gun ownership is impossible and I don't want one. They can all be thrown in the ocean,
    to please me.

But I lived in the USA and know its not a safe thing to try to take guns away from Americans.

What would happen if we took guns away from Americans?

But that wasn't what I asked.

I talked about training, safe operation and storage of guns.

Sure thing! Most people who voted for him and are happy he won are more happy that Trump lost than they are that Biden won.
For many people, as Obama even pointed out, he's someone we can put in the background. He's not a crass imbecile with paper-thin skin who mocks and ridicules everyone (including the troops). People wanted a competent politician who knows how to shut the hell up and not bombard twitter with dumb crap.

That remains to be seen. Maybe she will. Maybe she won't. People said the same with Trump and Pence and that didn't happen.

    The big differences.....
Biden is older than Trump, while Harris is much younger than Pence.
Pence is more of the same old same old, while Harris is a new wave,
ie, not merely colored, but also female & more left leaning.

Those are not my problem, but they sound like ways to reduce injuries, at least accidentsl ones.

Biden isn't that much older and doesn't seem to be a heart attack that can go off any second now. And while Harris may lean more Left than Biden, thats not hard too do and she's not really that Left.

Having one foot in the grave & the other on a
banana peel....Biden is more so than Trump.
Harris is more relatively left than Pence is right.
And she is more the future than is Pence.

Not hard to do, as Pence is basically far Right and Far North.
She is quite younger, amd more aligned with non-pasty white Conservative values.
I don't see ot that way as Biden doesn't appear to have a dumpster approach to his health.
