Windsor Ontario is actually south of Detroit. I could go
thru Windsor to Buffalo, & never traverse PA on my way
to MA or ME. It would save me 60 miles or so (each way).
But the border crossings offer brutal delays & potentially
nasty government encounters. And I'd need to provide an
inventory to a broker (cuz of what I carry).

Back in the day, lifetimes ago, I learned that "station on the side" was the SSB "break" and one spoke in educated terms. As a member of the "Hole in the Wall Gang" (Caldecott Tunnel), we were wont to say "5 at the stop sign", "20 at the stop sign" "stop sign out to lunch, go over the top" (avoid the tunnel at all costs). The one with the longest commute was called the "Commute Machine" - through the hole in the wall, over the bridge, through SF and into the Peninsula.

lets redirect this back to the original conversation Skippy..... you were talking about coming from the south past NYC using the Tappan Zee..... if you want to take an ungodly long way back to Michigan via Canada... enjoy
