I have a fence gate post that is kaput. A contractor gave me a fixed price bid as well as mentioning T&M and costs. I chose T&M and now the contractor has ghosted me because I'd pay quite a bit less that way.

Sorry to hear that, have a few contractor horror stories from a government office I worked at...and a couple just from being a home owner

Today has been a cooking day, but I'm actually making that much, I'm just making bread, and juggling cheddar bay biscuits, grilled corn on the cob and steak for dinner.

This is what happened to it:

I take 287 around NYC.
This bridge is useful to get further north on the east coast.

I just checked the map, and it appears there's another bridge across the Hudson about 17 miles north of the Tappen Zee. It's called the Bear Mountain Bridge, near Peekskill.

It lacks good highway access.
If I have business south of NYC, then it's 287 to 684 to 84.
If staying north of that then it's 80 to 81 to 84.
Remember...no trucks on any east coast parkway....not legal, ya know.

It's useful too.
But the Tappan Zee Bridge location is best most of the time for me.

you do realize that Canuckistan is North of NYS, and Pennsylvania ... and not a US state...right
Windsor Ontario is actually south of Detroit. I could go
thru Windsor to Buffalo, & never traverse PA on my way
to MA or ME. It would save me 60 miles or so (each way).
But the border crossings offer brutal delays & potentially
nasty government encounters. And I'd need to provide an
inventory to a broker (cuz of what I carry).
