The presence of evil is a stumbling block to belief for some people because they believe God created evil. What if evil doesnt actually exist? In science temperature measures the presence of heat and the concept of cold is just what we call the absence of heat. Cold doesnt exist is just a state of no heat. Same with evil. Evil is just a concept that we use the describe the state of being absent from God.
The existence of what is called 'evil' from the perspective of ancient cultures is simply the natural course of events in nature, and natural fallible human nature when they did not have science to provide a natural explanation.

Humans define words, so we could define evil this way. But, I do not think doing so makes sense.

Perhaps, you can explain why you think it does. Is there a way for us to measure how present or absent a god is, such that we could determine whether something is evil or not?

Is a priest molesting a child evil? Is a non believer saving another persons life evil?

I am guessing that you are aware that this definition of evil is older than any of us. This is no new epiphany. Given this, why has this definition not become the accepted definition?

Because it is wrong and terrible.
It is wrong and terrible but why should God put a stop to it?

Do you ever watch true crime programs on TV? People commit the most heinous of crimes and murder is the worst crime, which is why it can carry the death penalty. The way these criminals commit these crimes is beyond imagination. God is not responsible for these crimes so there is no reason why God should put a stop to them.
