The Out of Work Mime

One day an out-of-work mime was visting the zoo and attempted to earn some money as a street performer.

Unfortunately, as soon as he started to draw a crod, the zoo keeper grabbed him and dragged him into his office.

But instead of telling the mime not to perform on zoo property, the zoo keeper explained that the zoo's most popular attration, a gorilla, had died suddenly and the keeper feared that attendance at the zoo would drop off.

He offered the mime a job to dress up as the gorilla until they could get another one. The mime accepted.

The next morning, he put on the gorilla suit and entered the cage before the zoo opened. When the crowds began to gather, the mime discovered that he'd stumbled on to a great job. He could sleep all he wanted, play all day, and make fun of people--and he was drawing bigger crowds then he ever had as a mime.

Eventually, however, the crowds began to tire of him and he grew bored just swinging on the trees in his cage. He notice that the people were paying more attention to the lion in the next cage. Not wanting to lose his status as the zoo's most popular attraction, he climbed to the top of his cage, crawled across the partition and dangled from the top of the lion's cage. Of course, this made the lion furious, but the crowd loved it.

Well, this went on for some time. The mime in the gorilla suit kept tautnting the lion, the lion kept roaring, the croweds grew larger, and the mime's salary kept going up. Then, one terrible day, as he was dangling over the furios lion, the mim slipped and fell.

When he found himself face-to-face with the lion, the mime was terrified. The lion gather itself and prepated to pounce. The mime was so scared that he began to run around and around the cage with the lion in hot pursuit. The crowd roared its approval.

Finally, the lion caught up to the gorilla and pounced. The mime found himself flat on his back looking up at the angry lion and began screaming, "Help, Help me!"

Just then, the lion put his massive paw over the mime's mouth and said,
"Shut up, you idiot! Do you want to get us both fired?"
