Short of some unimaginable constitutional amendment, there is no legal method to outlaw “political parties,” as such are among the associational rights guaranteed in the First Amendment.
To even try to define the term “political party” (e.g., for purposes of a constitutional amendment) would be quite difficult. Are the NAACP, the KKK, LULAC, NOW, or the various “right to life” organizations “political parties”? If not, what distinguishes them from political parties?
