Just a little thread
that I thought I would start up
just for fun. You know?
Every post must
follow the rules of haiku
numerology
In each stanza write
five, then seven, then five more
syllables per line.
Beyond that don't fret.
Expectations are not high
Just count syllables.
----------------------
For those who would like;
true haiku has some more depth.
I'll elaborate.
One line stands alone.
and two lines work together
to make a full thought.
The loner line may
be the first or the last one.
It matters not which.
One stanza of this
haiku poetry should yield ---
A scene in the mind.
Traditionally
The image conveyed is that
of nature's beauty.
The greatest challenge
is stirring the heart with but
so few syllables.
See three examples;
Far beyond my pitiful
ken. True masters' works.
-----------------------------------------
A world of dew,
and within every dewdrop
a world of struggle
-------------------------------
At a roadside shrine,
before the stony buddha
a firefly burns
-------------------------------
Now I see her face,
the old woman, abandoned,
the moon her only companion
that I thought I would start up
just for fun. You know?
