The Gospels in Islam: Authentic or Corrupted?

Is the Gospel referred to in the Quran authentic or corrupt?

Doesn't it seem odd that since we know for a fact that the text of the Bible has been changed and re-edited and added to and subtracted from God hasn't seen fit to make an appearance and give us the One True Authorized Version of His Word, translated into every language on earth past and present with every one saying and meaning exactly the same thing? Why would he let us wander in the dark for over two thousand years, never knowing for sure what His Word actually IS?

Or is all of this argument and confusion the work of Satan, to keep us off our balance and arguing among ourselves?
