Which do you take issue with?

Country is exceptional
Constitution should be honored, valued, and upheld
Leaders should serve people, not special interests
Families and communities should be strong and free from government intrusion
Institution of traditional marriage is the foundation of society
Government should be smaller, smarter and more efficient
Health care decisions should be made by us and our doctors
Paychecks should not be wasted on poorly run government programs
Military must be strong and prepared to defend our shores
Culture should respect and protect life
Children should never be left in failing schools
Veterans should have the best care and opportunities in the world

That's just propaganda, not what it ends up being in reality.

"Traditional marriage" = ban gay marriage and no rights for LGBT people, who should just go back in the closet and stay there
"Health care decisions should be made by us and our doctors" = the only healthcare you should get is the healthcare you can pay for
"Paychecks should not be wasted on poorly run government programs" = gut welfare programs for the poor and needy
"Military must be strong and prepared to defend our shores" = Blackwater (or whatever their name is now) and other private armies for hire need us to give them the better part of $1 trillion a year to maintain our empire and drone some Muslim civilians to death with Hellfire missiles on the other side of the planet
"Culture should respect and protect life" = ban abortions, with no exceptions for rape victims or health of the mother and no social assistance for these welfare queens when they can't afford the kid they're forced to have
"Children should never be left in failing schools" = defund public schools and divert the money to for-profit schools owned by people who donate a lot of money to us
"Veterans should have the best care and opportunities in the world" = defund the VA, and public health programs and let needy and homeless vets rot since they're just cannon fodder with no use to us outside of uniform

My only issue would be if it's realistic enough to see things like that come to pass as opposed to idealistic fluff.

Nope.

A misleading oversimplification. There is a reason U.S. health care is considered the worst in the developed world (unless you're wealthy, of course.)

The U.S. military already dwarfs the next four strongest militaries combined. We could stand to divert some of that budget into other areas that sorely need it, such as education. Who exactly are we defending our shores from, anyway?

Another misleading line. This probably only applies to human embryos/fetuses, and not to actual children who are gravely ill or going hungry. Probably doesn't have the ecosystem or animal welfare in mind, either. Capital punishment and war mongering goes against this principle as well.

Exactly. That line should instead read "money should never be left in failing schools" because the kids are still going to be sitting there. Struggling schools are usually located in impoverished areas, where parents obviously wouldn't be able to transfer their kids to some posh private school. But the GOP doesn't care because that demographic doesn't consist of their constituents.

How could this possibly be considered part of the GOP platform when they're the absolute worst when it comes to serving special interests? Hello? Fossil fuel industry (climate change denial is a glaring example of this)? Evangelicals (opposing reproductive rights, LBGT equality, etc.)?

It's basically tossing massive amounts of money into a pit just to keep the bogeyman away. The military is already massive. What formidable opponents do we have, especially ones in a position to actually storm our beaches?

The abortion plank is watered down, it should say abortion is the tasking of a human life.

The republican platform really has only one imperative, and that is to funnel as many tax dollars as possible to their wealthy cronies and supporters in business. That means taking it away from the poor, the sick, the unemployed, the under-employed, children's food programs, education, natural disaster relief, infrastructure, stealing if from social security, and stealing it from anywhere else they can think of. It also means starting wars that never end so they can continue to pump billions of tax dollars (that we don't even have) into the military industrial conglomerate that pays for their political campaigns, endless perks and vacations, and gives them very high-paying do-nothing jobs when they leave office as a form of delayed bribery. They've never met a bribe they wouldn't take, or a corporate sponsored bill that they wouldn't vote for.

Their basic motto is, "every man for himself, and me first!"

The platform is designed to hook suckers into believing that their actions would follow their words. It's mostly propaganda all the way down. That's actually true of all political parties to some degree.

The real GOP "platform" based on actions is:

White males should rule.
Plutocrats should make all the rules.
The garbage in society: poor, women, minorities should shut up and serve their betters.
Government should only spend money to enrich the defense industries. Soldiers should shut up take it on the chin.
Health care is for the wealthy.
The rich can avoid environmental problems so pollute as much as you want to.
If it bothers us, we'll call it fake news and fake science. Truth is what we say it is, just like they do in Russia and China which are our real models.
The poor should pay taxes and the rich should only pay a pittance.
Elections are to be tolerated only when we win. If we're going to lose, we'll make it harder and harder for Democrats.
If we happen to lose, we'll change the rules to stop Democrats from doing anything.
We can be hypocrites. They can't.
