I read this before my meditation tonight:

"Receiving benefits that I can’t in good conscience claim to deserve, I am motivated to try to make sure that others receive such gifts as well. And I remember that while political, social, and economic benefits are crucial, even the drawing of breath from moment to moment is a gift provided by the universe through no action of my own."

-Jeff Wilson, Buddhism of the Heart

Despite this year's many difficulties, I hope you'll take time to be thankful for the gifts in your life; maybe even some you've been taking for granted.

The fact that we are experiencing life is a gift from our CREATOR.

I once met a fellow from India who believed he was given a certain number of breaths and wasn't going to waste them. He like to walk for exercise and measured his distance by amount of breaths taken.

I think the last sentence sums things up nicely. Noticing the things that you dont notice. A gift worth unwrapping when you think about it.

Especially in a year like 2020, it's so easy to focus on what's wrong in the world (and there's plenty). It's healthy and helpful to focus on what's good and right in our lives, too.
