Well I defer to the most objective scholars, not the dogmatic scholars. It's unknown if a Jesus actually existed, and highly unlikely the myth of him is true.

Well whatever it is it has spawned thousands of different interpretations, and that suggests it is not clear enough. I've read it and it certainly offers no clear vision for a 21st century.
People do have trouble understanding symbolism. I was astonished when I realized that the tower of Babel is the internet, computer technology. The molten (moving) images we are viewing right now that make all the world of the same language by using language apps. so, we can speak with anyone, anywhere. The internet will fall in the first part of the final nuclear war as the lofty communication satellites
are destroyed and data centers, cell towers destroyed, and the electrical grid destroyed so communication is removed weakening the nations. Rulers of nations = Lords want the internet hacked and virus installed so language will be "confounded" assisting their military plans. Hackers want to steal wealth and information and they do. Understanding computer code is understanding "dark sentences" because those without knowledge of it are "in the dark".
Once the internet is taken down, we never get it back so we should enjoy every minute of this technical miracle while we still can.

Well, the prophesy was likely just more embellishment. But as I said I defer to objective scholars, and they deal with reality, and don't assume the dogma is true.

The whole prophesy of Jesus' return is a little strange because what is God waiting for? So many Christians have believed the End Times have arrived, and then let down. Damn. Some believers were so certain they gave all their belongings away and then were in serious trouble trying to get their stuff back.

Well then take 5 minutes and take care of it. Just make sure your mom doesn't catch you.
:disappointed: ...and here I was thinking you were actually going to give Atheist a little help out.

I don't think your interpretation is accurate. I think you are being very, vert liberal in how you interpret the Babel story. It's not as if the internet is all that bad in regards to the good and bad of human behavior. You're likely just trying to find something in your life experience to make the Bible seem relevant to your era.

Seriously, do we humans really old Bible stories to assess and determine if something is harming our society? No. We have experts in the social sciences for that.

I'm acknowledging there are bout 44,000 sects under the umbrella of Christianity. This is organized groups who interprets the Bible to be very liberal and even socialist, all the way to the right with the KKK, who think Jesus is a racist. Somehow Jesus' sacrifice covers all these diverse believers.
Who or what made them such?

I knew a little about the Bible.
You mean you knew it had writing on pages?

But I was also already a smart kid who was able to observe the hypocrisy of Christians. I wasn't able to articulate the dilemma of what I saw, but I recognized a problem with what the Bible says and how these believers behaved.
You mean you actually were born among a group of people, whom you couldn't tell apart from heathens?
So couldn't you put two and two together, and realize they weren't what they claimed to be? ...and you say you were smart... o_O

You are not cheer leading the character of your fellow Christians.
Fellow Christians?
Well so much for knowing the Bible. John 13:35

So are you admitting some have faulty beliefs? If so, how did that happen?
Are you admitting you don't know the Bible at all... or just a tad?
These scriptures describe how it happened.
Acts 20:29, 30 ; 2 Thessalonians 2:6-12 ; 1 Corinthians 11:18, 19 ; 1 Timothy 4:1-3 ; 2 Timothy 4:1-5

Harm society? The Bible describes WW3, the last war humans will experience. It is the focus of a lot of the prophecy in the Bible. A rod of iron is a rifle representing an army. Pillows sewn to arms are parachutes. A behemoth is an army tank. A flaming sword is a missile.
Rev 18:2 Babylon represents Nuclear Power that make merchants rich with cheap electricity and is a city as the power lines unify both industry and homes. The harlot daughter of Babylon all the kings desire made from waste is a nuclear missile made from nuclear waste. She sits on 7 hills because a hill is a military, supporting the mountains that scripture explains are nations. 7 nuclear empowered nations fight in the final war. The power plant sits like a queen always built by water to cool her nuclear rods. She claims to be safe to those she serves but as a prime war target will burn with fire when attacked.

Who hasn't heard of the four horsemen of the apocalypse?

This to me is like clear evidence, of fulfillment of one of the end-time prophecies.
Who does not agree, and why not?

They say that the author/s of G-John wrote Revelation, possibly on Patmos or Ephesus, where an hallucinogenic mushroom grows naturally.

I think the author/s saw all in Revelation, but ................

So you know about Paul, but do you know about Jesus and the disciples? Do you know what they did during that last week, those last 6 days from the Sunday to the Friday? What do you think they did in Jerusalem on that Sunday, for example? I sometimes find that Pauline scholars know little about the Jesus story.

It is important to know the Son of God is not a prince of kings lower in station than even a king that is lower in station than God. Jesus is not a prince or king even though people want to call him both. Rev is about false Christs, military leaders and they are nothing like Jesus Christ. A Lord of Hosts is the Commander in Chief of a nations military.
A nuclear missile is the Abomination (because it destroys DNA) of Desolation, extinction of species, mass destruction.

There are 4 Christs in the Bible. 3 are Christs supported by 3 of the 4 Horsemen.
1. Jews have a Christ, son of Abraham, that is a killer leading their military but not named Jesus.
2. Paul's Christ, son of Abraham that Paul named Jesus that will represent Christian nations as a military commander.
3. The Muslim Jesus that is to lead their invasions in war as a military commander.
4. The real Jesus Christ, Son of God, that will never break God's command not to kill. Jesus returns near the end of war but kills no one when he collects his followers to save them from extinction.

So you don't think much of Revelation either, which tries to tell that Jesus will return with sword flicking from his jaws, killing many around him.

The Jesus that I found was a man who stood up against a wicked, greedy and corrupt leadership...the priesthood.

You are correct saying Jesus stood up against corrupt leadership, but he never killed anyone doing it and he never will.
The world war described will cause massive destruction, but it is a manmade war and not directed by God even though religious leaders will claim it is.
People do not read the Bible carefully. In Genesis heaven is described as the place birds fly. That is simply our sky. That heaven can be taken by force in air battles by fighter jets.
Every planet with oxygen has a heaven so there is more than one heaven in the universe. Jesus left this planet in a flesh and blood body so is residing now on one of those planets that provide oxygen and has water like Earth and Jesus is preparing it for his followers because man destroys this planet in a thermonuclear war.

can we not agree that they are indeed riding

Every generation has found signs of the end times in their current circumstances. There has always been war, rumors of war, earthquakes, pestilence. It is the nature of life on earth. Both tyrants and the universe continually try to kill us.

Jesus said only the Father knows when the end will come. If Jesus didn't know when the end would come; how is it that we can claim to know? We should go about our lives--in faith, doing good, and let God be God. Let him find us, when he comes, praying and working and serving our neighbors.

I acknowledge your Christianity, but obviously, a Deist like me sees Jesus as having been a man, two thousand years ago.
And no, he was never reported to have deliberately killed anybody, although of course one Jesus Son of the Father who came to Jerusalem that week, who was adored by the people, who committed mayhem and riot during which a person died, and who was pardoned and released on a whim by the governor due to massive demand to save his life..... he did kill one person as far as we know. It's all there in the gospels.

viole, viole. I have to wonder...
No one has said that there were never wars, famine, etc. before the fulfillment of prophecy.
Your mom did not say to you, "Child. Catch the school bus. There is only one bus. No other."
We would all expect that to be silly.

Similarly, The end time prophecies were told to the followers of Christ. Actually, all of us has access to his words... but how silly if someone thought Jesus didn't know about wars, and hunger, and diseases.
Why. The man experience storms..

Anyway, I understand your feelings.
Perhaps now is not the time. ;)

Just to clarify though.
What is "new", is as I mentioned before - their increase will be distinct; The scale on which they are occurring will be distinct, and they are all occurring all during the same period.

Even those who don't want to take notice, are forced to take notice. For example... Man-made earthquakes are getting more common due to poor planning in infrastructural activities like fracking for oil, dam-building, pumping gas without re-filling. Another reason attributed by scientists for increasing earthquakes is the cooling of earth.

Interestingly, this too was prophesied. Revelation 11:18

So, what scale? What happens now is, until now, not even close to what happened during, say, WW2. Or WW1, also followed by a devastating pandemics, much worse than this one.

So, why should you expect Jesus any time soon, then, if He did not land here back then?

The answer to that is obvious to me, but how can you logically justify that?

Ciao

And as I have poi need out the many Christians who have interpreted the Bible through the centuries that the End Times was here. Hundreds of times they have been wrong. And I make the contemporary example out of Hal Lindsey who wrote numerous books that failed to be true. And now you expect we thinkers to ignore that history of failed interpretations and believe you? It's laughable.

End Time Christian want the Bible to be true (via their interpretation of Revelations) and work hard to make anything fit the stories. It's just not convincing. Thinkers know to be highly critical of these claims given the failures of the past.

So if you follow Jesus then you condemn trump for his corruption, and trump supporters who caused deaths on Jan 6?

Both world wars have caused massive destruction, so we know this already.

People do not read the Bible carefully. In Genesis heaven is described as the place birds fly. That is simply our sky. That heaven can be taken by force in air battles by fighter jets.
I think you are certainly showing a good reason to read the Bible carefully, and that would be to not read it too literally and with an understanding of the times the stories were written, and ignoring modern theological interpretations.

Every planet with oxygen has a heaven so there is more than one heaven in the universe.
Oxygen is an element that is present all over the universe. And the atmosphere of earth is mostly nitrogen. There was more oxygen in the time of the dinosaurs, which is one reason they were so big. So was there a bigger heaven back then? Is a bottle of compressed oxygen in a hospital concentrated heaven?

Jesus left this planet in a flesh and blood body so is residing now on one of those planets that provide oxygen and has water like Earth and Jesus is preparing it for his followers because man destroys this planet in a thermonuclear war.
This is total Hal Lindsey doomsday nonsense being repeated. He was wrong then, but you're right? It's like a gamble who keeps betting on 21 on the roulette wheel, eventually he will win. But how many times did he lose first? Is that what End Time Christians are doing? Just keep making predictions and eventually you'll be right? But in the mean time you scare the crap out of people with your bad prediction of "we are all going to die". How is that moral?

Catholics believe in human sacrifice to a God. They are appalled if an Aztec does it, but feel they attain perfection if they do it.
They believe the Command from God not to kill. They believe God is true justice. But then they think that God demands the death/murder of His innocent Son for crimes he did not commit. That breaks a Command from God and is not justice, it is inequity, injustice. They turn God from being a righteous, loving God into being an unrighteous, unloving tyrant that demands people to agree with murder for a reward.
Worshipping that concept of a God turns people into criminals, sinners, for agreeing an innocent, loving man should die.
In the beginning, the 2 men that worshipped the Living God, our Creator, was Jesus and John the Baptist, not Abraham and Moses.
God sent John for one purpose and that was to teach forsake belief in blood sacrifice to remove sin and accept water baptism for removal of sin. It was a Commandment from God to believe in Water Baptism, not optional for salvation. If the Jews had accepted water baptism, then the murder of Jesus would have never happened.
This is what Jesus said about killing him.
John 6:70
"Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?"
Judas is a devil for believing an innocent man should die so Judas receives a reward for it.
In John 8, "Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin."
Killing an innocent man is sin and those that believe in it are servants of sin.
40 But now YE SEEK TO KILL ME, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God" The command of God is believe merciful water baptism not actual blood removes sin. But the deeds of their fathers based on Abraham was to believe in killing people that opposed their religious beliefs. They WERE doing the deeds of Abraham their father; Jesus hears the voice of God not Abraham.
Blood sacrifice for sin removal was established in Jewish laws by Abraham. Jesus denies blood sacrifice/murder in the true doctrine words of God and said," And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not." The "blood" of Jesus that washes sin away is belief in water not death/sacrifice for forgiveness of sin. His blood is true doctrine=the Words of God that save people.
Abraham is the father of the lie that God accepts human sacrifice for sin removal. Abraham rejoiced in the day his sons kill Jesus because then Abraham's lies are believed as truth and Abraham remains exalted and honored for his deceptions.
One of Abraham's sons, Pharisee Paul leads people back into Jewish beliefs and tells people to believe in bloody Human Sacrifice.
As I mentioned to you before, you're using what is called "word salad". IOW, rambling "essays" minus paragraphs. You have the full right to do that, but many of us have better things to do with our time.

Realize new weapons of war have been created. Never in past wars have thermonuclear weapons been used in battle. The atomic bombs used in Japan were not fusion weapons. They had yields of 13 and 21 kilotons as they destroyed approx. 200,000 lives.
The fusion weapon, Tsar Bomba detonated by Russia in a test, had the yield of 50 MEGATONS approx 3,800 times more destructive that the weapon used to destroy Hiroshima. People may not even be able to imagine the amount of destruction of human life from the effect of ONE thermonuclear missile. Russia now claims they have a weapon that can destroy all of England. So even though there have been many wars in the past, there has never been a war capable of destroying humans as a specie, until now with the advanced weapons of war and threats of thermonuclear World War 3.

CG you seem to have answered your own questions. A lot of what’s happening now is because we have chosen to go our own way and ignore the counsels of Baha’u’llah which would have averted many problems.
I did?

I hope one of the Baha'is has the courage to stand up for their prophet. He claimed he was the return of Christ, and Baha'is say that he has fulfilled all the prophecies.
This is the question. Can Baha'is support their interpretation of Revelation?

it just shows that Revelation can be made to say anything and prove anything you want it to.
This is the only question I answered.
