Today in Italy it is the Memorial Day for the martyres of the Foibes, where people commemorate the massacre of thousands of Italians by the Jugoslav Partisans led by Tito from 1943 to 1946.


People used to be thrown into the foibes, that is sinkholes in the limestone rock, excavated by water through the Karst phenomenon.

Usually people used to be thrown in when they were still alive.
Those natural pits were considered mass graves to hide a silent and discrete genocide, since Tito wanted his country to be absolutely monoethnic.

Btw...we Italians forgive Tito, the Slovenians and Croatians since now we are all working on a peaceful Europe together.
As Europeans and as members of the same Civilization.
