I’ve had more than my fair share of sexual partners, and I can tell you that infatuation has nothing to do with the act of loving in any spiritual or existential sense.

This certainly doesn’t deny the possibility of loving a partner Post-coital... it’s just a transcendental process that goes beyond the physical reproductive programs themselves.

We can cherish other human beings. We can deeply value others as they are in their own process of becoming. This is the blessing of higher awareness. I think other animals experience it as well.
